there is no "best" way, it depends on the file

if I am downloading a 2 mb mp3, why go through all the trouble of using a torrent if I can easily direct download it?

torrenting is best for large files or folder systemswith subfolders and shit, which cannot be ddl'd

xdcc is a good alternative for quickly downloading bigger single files

i've never used or needed to use usenet before

I was too afraid to torrent until now, but a VPN is cheaper than an uploaded.net account.

There is no best.

>DDL
Depends on the file host. If they let you parallel download at max speeds without any restrictions, then obviously it's the best, but its rare to find hosts like that.

>Torrents
Depends on the amount of seeds. Usually popular private trackers are going to have well seeded torrents, but you also have to be part of their community and share.

>Usenet
Going to be perfectly honest, I never used it.

What is Bankupload. Fast as fuck on IDM.
>>

They do that because they are unknown as fuck. As soon as they reach Uploaded level they will make the speed low as them.
>>
>>54391234
That's why you stick to filehosts that are hungry for notoriety. Soon as they get big, go for their competition.

Or just use Real Debrid happy hours.

I get all media from torrents except some vydias I really like, I get those from Steam/Origin. I also try to buy movies/tv shows I really liked to show my support for the content creators every now and then.

Honestly though downloading is still best done through torrents. Despite the fact that less people are torrenting nowadays it's still the best way to download media. You can pause downloads at any time and if your download gets interrupted your progress will remain the same. I wish we could download all files this way.

>>

You can't even prove that good indexers even exist. Torrents are king. Putting pirated content on servers used in a business and then publicly indexing it is fucking stupid.

This poll proves that Usenet is fucking dead.
>>
>>54391624
premium is nice though.

I actually fell for the meme and bought 2 years for 90 bucks. It's 3.75 per month and you get fullspeed erryday.

There's an abundance of content so I guess they pay the uploaders well since everywhere I look it's always on uploaded. Their business model probably also relies on having absolute shit tier speeds for free downloads to have enough time to display ads and nudge people towards premium.

It works right now, at least. I don't expect it to work forever, I actually think they'll go down the same way as rapidshare has, but whatever, then someone new will come and torrents will always be there. Maybe the jurisdiction in my country regarding torrents has shifted towards something more graceful in that time.

It's a good and free indexer, but there are others around.

Good, if it does to you then it does to others. The less people that talk about Usenet the better, the longer it lives and is useful. Thanks to the low amount of normies (read: you) it has been spared the attention of automated DMCA requests etc.

How did you pay? they don't accept paysafecards unfortunately.

>>

Because they say they are German.
>>
>>54391830
What prevents Germans from getting German VPNs?

It seems like the most obvious choice since it's probably going to have the best speed.
>>
>>54391842
German law which makes VPNs subject to legal compliance. Germans either get a VPN provider that operates outside of Germany or use private trackers.

Or they avoid torrents altogether and use DDL since they can't be caught that way.
>>
I knew Usenet was a meem.
>>
>>54391821
I paid with Paypal. It doesn't matter how you pay, if PIA decides to turn their back to their users they'll have your IP anyways. Paying non-anonymously doesn't make you any more secure.
>>
>>54391863
Yep that's exactly it. I use the Netherlands PIA VPN for torrents.
>>
>>54391961
Well, you're technically adding a second point of failure since PayPal could turn their back on you.

Highly unlikely if all you do is torrent, but the risk is there.

Also there might be complications getting a high security job where they check your track records, and buying a VPN is always going to look suspicious.
>>
>>54391980
PayPal has no reason to turn their backs on me unless PIA tells them they should. If PIA tells them they should, I'm fucked anyways since I connected with my real IP to the PIA VPN. They don't need PayPal to fuck me over at this point.

I won't be getting such a job. But even if I were, this reads like FUD. Are you speaking from experience? If anyone asks me, I might as well claim that I didn't want people at my univ network reading my unencrypted traffic or getting access to my accounts, that's why I used it. There's nothing inherently so suspicious about using a VPN that I would be denied a job.
>>

The thing is
>Evidence is much more difficult to get. They might log that you have accessed file XYZ, but they won't log every single byte you've downloaded. So what if you cancelled the download halfway? Is it still illegal to download 50 useless kilobytes of a copyrighted movie?
>Fines for Downloading are much lower, and much harder to enforce since you're not directly (only indirectly) harming businesses by actually redistributing it.

This is why nothing has happened yet. Not for megaupload, rapidshare, no one. If the jurisdiction changes, if merely accessing the link is enough to be considered a copyright infringment, if fines for downloading increase, we can talk again.

>>
>>54392818
We all pay for our ISP, and not just for media downloading. There is nothing wrong with paying money to have a provider supply you with internet because it is a physical act.

Media on the other hand is just digital information. It is infinite. It is not a real product. It can be reproduced millions of times within seconds. It is worthless. When you pay for it, you are only paying the people who gambled their money in creating it, hoping somebody is stupid enough to pay for something we can reproduce for free.

It is retarded to pay $500 dollars a year for media when you can pay $0.

Paying for a Bluray is like flushing money down the toilet.
>>
>>54389847
I use both torrenting and Usenet to pirate. I also use a seedbox for torrenting so my IP address never gets tagged.
>>
>>54392818
ISPs are not infinite, and thus you have to pay for it or else you can't get it at all. Digital media is infinite. The second a Bluray gets copied, it lives on the internet forever, being copied over and over again. Why would you give money, a finite medium, for an infinite "product" like digital media?

It's fucking stupid. You only pay because you think that you should.
