I have dual monitors so I can watch live streaming sports on one and play games or chat on the other which I do often.
I'm going to be honest here, I've got mine around 2 years ago and I'm not sure how useful they actually were.
It's the kind of nifty that allows you to do 2 things at a time, except I'm shit at multitasking so that's out the way. It was very very mildly convenient when I coded, end result being on a different monitor and afaik it's useful if you're into webdev but all in all I can say it's mostly been a meme for me.

If you only browse facebook, sure, you don't need 2 screens. But it's very useful to have a second screen for added information that's permanently visible, without needing to switch workspace and/or alt-tab.
It's also neat if you want to run a VM in the second screen and have both open at the same time.
Basically, if you're a poorfag, just get some shitty monitor you can snag for free somewhere as your secondary.

it depends on what you’d use it for. An ultrawide won’t replace a dual monitor, if we’’re talking about 1080p monitors here, in the sense of a 21:9 won’t give you as much space as two 16:9s. But if you prefer to have only one monitor, need a bit more space but not that much, then you would prefer to go for a 21:9 monitor. If you actually need more space, go for dual monitor.
Personally, as an audio engineer, 21:9 is the dream as it allows me to see way more horizontally than other monitors, and I happen to have it as a second screen, so my first screen is used for elements that don’t require horizontal length.
