I opted-in to keep the extra storage so I got basically the same email but the second paragraph was like "But, since you wanted to keep it, you can. You're welcome."

kek, not really. Do some research
>>

there was a time when they allowed you to claim our 30gb permanently, thank god I did that on my 4 accounts.

Everything's good with the world
>>
>>54369471
Old news. This was headlines last year, and people made such a stink that MS gave in and let you opt into keeping your storage.
>>
>cloud "storage"
>5gb
Gmail has 15gb space wtf is this shit
>>
>>54370329
they overprovisioned
scaling back means they;
- aren't selling enough to justify the amount of free space
- weren't expecting people to use as much as they are
>>
>>54369612
So is the shit saved on my phone.

If you really think you need 24/7 access to a document, you need to get your priorities straight.

I am with the ages and was available for the 30gb upgrade few years back.

Some newer Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets have one drive pre installed with 100gb cloud storage for free

Then again they have a 50gb personal cloud storage offer for only $2 a month or get 1tb with office 365 for $7 a month which isn't bad at all unless you rather make different free accounts across multiple cloud storage services

Just buy an external hard drive you shit magnets. Use some of the money you faggets get from sucking other faggot's dicks.
>>
>>54370409

So your saying an external hardrive is always more convenient than a cloud storage at all times?
>>
>>54370409
I'm agreeing with you m8. Anything super important is stored on my phone (which I carry around all the time anyway).

>>54370507
I've found that it is. It's less fiddly, not dependent on internet access or third parties and cheaper.

Google Drive is way better honestly, I quit using my one drive a long time ago.

Also its nice that every year they have a day where you can go in and do a survey and get 2 extra gbs of permanent storage
Some people are pushing over 21gbs free
>>
>>54370533
>anything super important is stored on my phone

Which is why using something like Google Drive to automatically back that shit up immediately is great.
You dont have to worry about a huge amount of dumb luck happening to you rendering your phone useless or gone from your possession forever.

The cloud storage has basically made my phone expendable honestly, its not going to devastate me if I leave it in a cab and never get it back. It will annoy me, but wont be devastating
>>
>>54371084
I don't rely on my phone as the only storage I use. Just the portable one.

Once I get home I'll dump it onto my shitty fileserver.

WHY?

HDD's and SSD's are cheap as fuck

you can get a 8tb archive for like $200
>>
>>54371435
>drive dies
>files kill
some people have important documents and dont need storage simply to store their illegal video collection.
>>
>>54369471
MS is like "oh shit, we gave people too much free storage and don't have the ad revenue to justify the costs"

lol
>>
>>54369471
idunno senpai, they gave me a year sub to Office 365, with 1TB of storage, because of the scale-back.
Not sure if that was restricted to people who were over the future limit, or what the deal is, but I don't mind so much.

Not OP, but in the same spot.

Well, nothing new.
Anyway, you shouldn't rely on a cloud storage.

MY 1st gen moto G got me free 50gb till 2017 so i have 69gb of space. I'm only using 7gb because i store most of my large shared files on MEGA (mainly my wallpaper collection, no private data or anything that i dont already have backed up elsewhere.)
>>
>>54374435
I don't.
Nothing lost, I already had multiple offline copies.
I'll just lack the comfort of having all my important documents backed up on a single online platform instedad of having to split them across different solution, thus losing redundancy on some of the files.
>>
Go ahead and reduce that storage to 0 Microcuck.

For about the same price per month I can have my own private server instead of someone else's computer. And no big electricity cost, the box would stay on anyway.

8.1 and windows 10 have onedrive integrated in the OS. It doesn't save anything by default though.
I also haven't seen anyone use it.

Thankfully I have forever 24GB of Dropbox storage. 48GB Samsung offer expires in 2 years, but I don't use that much either ways.
>>
>>54375603
It says I am below the storage changes, though. I did get a Groove trial subscription, which has temporarily bumped it up to 100 GB. I don't intend to continue on Groove because it's shit.
>>
>>54375015
You complained about a drive dying. If one drive dies in a raid 1 array, then the files will be copied to a new disk once you insert it, effectively solving the problem you brought up.
>>
>>54374798

Seriously, you should have seen MS pulling shit like this. They have no reason not to one you're using it and most aren't going to switch.
