I'm using Debian with only free repositories enabled. There is no problem with my installation of Debian. rms just can't recommend it because they also offer official nonfree repositories.

Because FSF is too extreme. It's not morally wrong to use, make or distribute nonfree software, I use Arch Linux beause it's completely user driven. Its wiki, community and AUR is top-notch. Since it's community driven, it's basically as community friendly as anything can be. But FSF hates it because its community driven(!) package manager has no rules against non-free software, that's often REQUIRED for their computers to even work.

Modern Intel/AMD processors have had hardware backdoors for years.
