Any idea how to keep this bad boy cool? My SSDs go over 65C when I'm gayman. It's a node 202.
>>
>>54345602
Show guts + airflow, probably a bad circulation of the gpu or cpu blowing into the ssds.
>>
>>54345618
Most definitely is the case I feel. Theres no case fans in it. Suppose I should invest in slim profile ones.

That's pretty hot. I'd look at issues with the case... or something. But I didn't even do proper cable management and I don't get temps like that. My case is r5 define or something and I have reasonable temps.

The SSD Caddy is at the bottom center of pic related. It's a very dense case however I think Haswell and AMD can create hell if sealed in metal and plastic. I'm upgrading my rig to an i7 and r9 nano and adding a case fan where the gpu no longer is.

B-B-But my ITX Build. It's not my main rig, just my portable one. There isn't a single cable that isn't needed. Realistically I'm hoping once I switch to a nano and add a case fan it'll blow out all the hot ass air from the mobo/cpu and the gpu.

if that case doesn't have ventilation at the top and all your fans are expelling heat from the bottom instead of pulling cool air in from the bottom, it will get hotter than a PS4

I have it in the standing position on the left, you can see the vent at the top. I've seen that awesomesauce dude on youtube had a 6700k and a nano there and had no real issues. he even managed to watercool it. Once my 4790 comes in and the nano with my noctua fan we'll see how she fairs. 8 logical cores should be stressed out alot less when gaming and with the smaller form nano and an actual case fan close to the SSDs rather than an r9 390 heatsink she should fare well yes?

Thinking of just upgrading my GPU right now. Will my CPU be much of a bottleneck, if I'm just going to be playing games.
>>
>>54347538
I once played with a 680 on 4K and things like BF4 shuttered due to the VRAM.
>>54347551
It looks blurry. Even 2K. I had to lower the resolution to get it playable until I got a better GPU. But in laptops you can't upgrade, there are only ultra expensive cards from China without any warranty.
>>
>>54347541
You've got me beat on number of drives, but i've got you on total capacity.

What are you using your drives for anyway?
>>
>>54347570
I don't know, do games require instruction sets your CPU doesn't have compared to newer generations?
>>
>>54347570
i5 750 is kind of EOL. If you're staying at 1080p you might be ok for non cpu-intensive games.

>>54347552
I sometimes play games at 1600x900 because it scales well, but this certainly isn't a gaming laptop.
>>
>>54347569
Ages, pretty much get a new drive every 6-12 months so the oldest ones are 1Tb, the latest ones are 2x 4Tb one of which went in a few weeks ago. I have max 8 SATA ports so I've cycled out countless other 1Tbs.

They're all WD Greens except the newest 4Tb which is a WD Blue 5400rpm, since they scrapped the "greens". Fucking lame.
>>
>>54347585
>But in laptops you can't upgrade
Sure I can, with an Alienware Graphics Amplifier™, or when some USB-C/Thunderbolt solution comes out I could use that

But again, I don't play video games very often.
>>
>>54347570
Depends on the game, but if you OC'd that i5 it should do fine.
>>
>>54347634
I would have bought a Zenbook UX501 then. My favorite choice when I was in my laptop phase in 2013.
>>
>>54347596
I also have a couple of external 2Tbs if that makes a difference? I use them for all sorts, mainly HDTV and Bluray movies but I have a massive amount of space dedicated for rainbow tables and password lists, NTLM, MD5, GSM, that kind of thing.
>>
>>54347664
Thanks for telling me what you would have bought when I wasn't asking.

Anime, movies, TV, music, and then my encoding projects and some games.

I've got around 7TB free right now as I just picked up a new 5TB not long ago and have yet to start filling it.

I have around 1.5TB of SSD storage, of which around 300GB is free. All of that is programs, games, and some scratch space for working with larger files.

Really nice, totally Jelly of the SSD space you have, I really don't need anything fast other than for my OS and games. Most of my drives sit idle so I can't justify more than 5,400 rpm.

What encoding do you do? I've done some gameplay recording for my YouTube channel, sadly with these slower drives you can't record 4k at full res, you'd probably need SSDs or RAID SSDs for that.
>>
>>54348427

The whole point is to showcase who has the most retarded build.

Some game encoding as well as encoding some blurays.

And you can probably get away with a large enough RAID 0 array of 7,200 RPM drives. Or an NVMe SSD.

Here is my boot SSD, samsung 950 pro m.2

I do yes.

Mainly CSGO, rocket league, stardew valley, and recently some dark souls 3.

I can play pretty much any game at 1440p, I just have to turn down the graphics in newer releases like DS3. For CSGO(my main game) though I have the settings at full and I get over 100fps.

Go to settings < queues and threads
then go to random and change it to 4 threads.

1 thread maxes at 550mbps which is why you hit the limit there.

No displayport out (so you can't daisy chain them), or USB hub makes it worse than the Dell U2515H.

That being said, I got mine for $265 each, and for that price they're a god damn steal.

I can easily recommend these monitors.
