Which will give me better bang for buck for the same price ? 2.0 active system or 2.0 passive + amp?

I have the MS16 variant of those. No complaints. Plenty loud, pretty flat response, and deep ... enough.

>>54341162
Active is better for price / performance but they tend to be more limited in range and uses. For PC speakers they're a great option. For a home theater they're a terrible option.
>>
>>54342860
Why are they a terrible option for home set up ?

Honestly really surprised with the Gigaworks tII speakers they are surprisingly good computer speakers and I would highly recommend them.
>>
>>54343982
Because home theater setups have a bigass amp to run your bigass floorstanding speakers off of anyways. Unless if you want to use your fancy monitor speakers as your surrounds which is still dumb.

I have these and sound pretty gud
you have to place them like pic rel tho
it changes a lot just to "exit" the triangle
>>
>>54345278
>>54346277

I'm not really a basshead or whatever but my 305s without a sub seem to put out plenty of low end, it might just depend on what you want to use them for. For general listening and even some production work I don't think you *need* a sub for these - everything is definitely there imo. They haven't disappointed me yet. But as anon said above, pay attention to positioning, don't place them too close or too far apart and when you've made the triangle, both speakers should be facing straight at you when you turn to look at them.

they drop out any bass starting at around 60 hz; they also lose some of the midrange -- not frequency response wise but in terms of emphasis -- meaning, sure, you can get that car up to 60 mph, but it takes 20 seconds

you wont notice it until you have a set of better speakers or a subwoofer, then they sound thin and like ass -- especially the cabinet which has a boxy sound -- but again, if you're just using those, no biggie

also, they produce low level noise so you can't play them at too high a volume otherwise you hear noise and then distortion

are there better options? yes, of course, since they're not really cheap, just cheaply made

don't buy these meme speakers -- jbl probably paid rajivs to promote it on amazon and the web and now we have a whole generation of buyers remorse

Nah. The HTCT 100 came as the whole setup. As a matter of fact, the amp is REQUIRED. That's where you hook everything up to. The soundbar is connected by a 9 foot proprietary connector, but since it's so long, I really don't mind.

I got two pairs of Quadral Titan's MkI.
They are awesome, but getting those fuckers on the second floor and transporting them without a car was one hell of a tough job.

why do you have a hardware equlizer and have it all set to default they colour the sound and make it worse

Was thinking about getting these. Currently have some decent-ish altec lansing satellite speakers+sub. Im just a bit confused how a speaker thats the exact same size can apparently be an order of magnitude better than cheaper ones that are of comparable size. The z623 has like 200 watts, compared to 18 for my current ones, but is that really the only technical difference? Obviously not a speaker guy here.

Want to make my own bookshelf speakers. For the speakers I want to spend around $100. Any recommended kits? Since I want decent bookshelf speakers for a lower price is this a good option instead of buying crappy bookshelf speakers for around $120-130?

Overnight sensation are popular and have cheap kits. If that's above budget I doubt anything else worthwhile is out there for you.
120-130 speakers don't have to be crappy if you're realistic: small room, medium sound pressure, no subsonic bass. It's about the golden midrange.

>Jbl is an American company
Nobody's disputing that. Although they are owned by a multinational now.
>The only places I have ever seen them manufacturer their speakers are Mexico, USA and China
Again mate, I believe you. You not having seen it does not however change the fact that JBL has been manufacturing speakers in Denmark for decades.
