Why is it such a pain to organise panels in MATE? XFCE is a lot more friendlier.

XFCE has no future, it doesn't get updated anymore... it's been this way for years. MATE is actively developed.

And honestly I wish it did, XFCE was an awesome DE. Overall MATE is more polished at this point.

once finished, on the display manager (login screen) look for the option to choose DE and choose the new one

What do you mean? I found it a lot easier. All you have to do is remove/add applets. And you can just drag and drop them across the bar instead of having to fuck with spacers to attempt to get things centered or locked in place

XFCE is already perfect. I don't need any updates when it's (in my opinion) still the best DE
