Question guys My work laptop has a vpn client to connect to

Question guys

My work laptop has a vpn client to connect to our companies network. This connection must be active to use version control and services behind the firewall.
I'm not very productive on my laptop while I'm at home though, what would be the most effective way to work from my desktop?

As of now I basically scp all my code to my desktop, and scp it back to my laptop whenever I need to test / commit something. This workflow sucks. Help me /g/

I've deleted the installer, and I've have to wait until tomorrow to ask around it
Plus I'm sure there's some sort unique signature for each client.. I know they keep track of the connections, it feels like they reset it every 2 days
