What's the deal with huge plastic gamer mousepads? do these people move their mouse that much? it doesnt seem convenient
Yes, they actually do, at least if they play CounterStrike or similar games. You need to run a really low DPI to be accurate enough at a competitive level. Most players seem to prefer large cloth pads and not plastic, though.

>do these people move their mouse that much?
There are kids who don't have much muscle control or co-ordination. Fine movement skills are beyond them.
i do 3d modeling and dual monitor shenanegans on one of these

I don't get it. I thought high DPI was where it's at.

High dpi is so 2007 anon.

Competitive fps players favor the large cloth pads because of the lower mouse dpi used in the competetive scene. The lower dpi is favorable since it is more accurate when doing quick movements like snapping to your enemies head.

Lower DPI is a thin brush, high is a large.
Small means more detail easier
Large means more easier
For games where precise movements are needed, and large ones irrelevant, lower DPI will be used

Is that salt I taste? I think it is.

plastic ones though?

High dpi is more inaccurate and the chance of contracting RSI is greater since most high dpi users flex their wrists more than a low dpi user would, as low dpi requires the user to move their whole arm

I got mine because it is easier to clean. Don't have to replace it as often.

I can remember a pro who used to have a plastic one, but I can't remember his name. n0thing maybe? Some people like it over the cloth, i dont get it though, cloth seems more smooth to me, and it wont grind down your mouse feet as quickly either
the comfiest

plastic makes the mouse slide more easily, and these mats let some mice track better than they would otherwise.
