What it's the most aesthetically pleasant laptop you know /g/?
>image related: this beauty
I happen to find both macbooks and thinkpads awful
Post beautiful laptops.
macfag here
pixel is the most attractive laptop ever made
macbook pro
>>54326153
No way maybe in 2k11, 2k12 but those bezels nowadays on the macbook pro are hideous. Apple is to stubborn to do a refresh to. Pixel is gorgeous. I also love the utilitarian look of IBM thinkpads
>>54326242
I find them flimsy.
Are they durable?
>>54326133
thinkpad w720ds
>>54326133
it's too bad the Pixel comes with ChromeOS and no reliable way to get Linux on the metal. Or shit, even Windows. That laptop is awesome. I mean I'm posting this from a cheaper Chromebook, but that's a different story. $200 for mine, I'm willing to put up with ChromeOS. $899? No fucking way.
>>54326255
It seemed well built when I played with one at a Microsoft store. The screen is a little too heavy for it though, wobbles easily.
I can agree, the pixel is particularly good looking
in order: xps 13 > rMBP > chromebook pixel
>>54326325
xps 13 is ugly and filmsy. Camera on the bottom with that huge bezel totally degrades the looks of the no bezel design.
thicc
>>54326133
I'm a fan of these. Ugly to most people, but it feels functional to me.
>>54326376
Wtf looks like a laptop that belongs to an Indian cluber that wears too much cologne and gaudy jewelery
>>54326325
>>54326342
Yeah the xps is not even close in terms of aesthetics, it looks weird irl.
>>54326376
Where I can buy one of these?
I quite liked the Asus Bamboo.
I would like to see more natural materials in computers and phones.
Thinkpad x201
>>54326407

The "new" Dell Precision laptop (5000 series).
I think it's pretty nice looking from the pictures online, at least.
>>54326376
Panasonic laptop are GOAT
>>54326133
the pixel would be nice if it wasn't a chromebook
I find the powerbook g4/2007 MBP pretty damn nice looking
>>54326421
So?
Flooring is also made to look nice.
>>54326407
it's really happened
we've come full circle
>>54326473
The silver doesn't accent the brown well and just how it's designed looks like you just slapped a couple of floor boards on your laptop like stickers. Trendy and gimmicky.
>>54326456
Chromebooks will soon be able to start android apps
>>54326510
Maybe the execution isn't the best, but I like the concept.
And it's not some sticker, they actually replaced plastics with bamboo.
I'd have to say the Voodoo Envy
>>54326133
Razor Blade Stealth
>>54326376
CF-T8 a best
>>54326255
Friend has one and lets me play with it every now and then. Like the other dude said it's pretty damn heavy for what it is, especially since most of the weight for laptops is in the keyboard half. Very sturdy and premium build quality though. He's got the one that comes with nvidia graphics as well.

That shit is saying "Look at me, I'm a chink laptop ready to get greasy fingermarks and break in two months"

Nah. That thin-bezel display is all it has going for it. The grey-black-grey sandwich colorway looks bad. The keyboard flexes and the busy carbon texture looks tacky.

Anyone who is older and grew up with computers and isn't an xbox kiddy who's 15 years old loves the green and black look with computers it's the kids who are touting the "MEH BEIGE PC AND THINKPADS HURR DURR CLASSIC"

Rakuten Global. Prepare to cough up more than what you'd pay for a loaded MacBook. Made in Japan though.
>his laptop-fu doesn't have a wacom digitizer display
>>54326881
why would you want the pixel when the xps 13 is better in every aspect?
>>54326133
Gotta say that Pixel looks great. It's a shame it's price and functionality make it completely non-viable to anyone with sense.
ITT: everything is shit unless it's a manlet-approved lenovo babby laptop.
christ you faggots have the shittiest taste. I'm sorry your tiny bird feet hands have to peck at the tiny baby keys but your laptop is crap.
>>54326666
circular trackpads are up there with the Trackpoint in intuitiveness, though you have to install three different driver packages before it works properly.
chiral scrolling is love
I don't know if it's the best looking of all time, but I'm still a little disappointed I didn't get one.
Panasonic let's note.

you can install linux distros of your choice on either machine, it's easier in fact on the XPS
>>54327246
Looks fucking beautiful, I just wish Apple got rid of the huge border around the screen. Don't even think about buying an 11 inch.
>>54327315
ThinkPad 701CS
>>54327309
i'd probably break that keyboard in less than a month...
Thinkpad design only went downhill from the T/X4*
>>54327346
With both machines running the same os, chromebook pixel wins hands down. The xps doesn't have a single advantage over it
And yes, for a laptop chromeos is better than Windows because crouton and wine exist
X1 Yoga, too bad it's so unreasonably expensive.
>>54327259
IE Display XPS 15 looks WAY nicer than the 13, just blows it out the water to see it in person
>>54327055
Fujitsu laptops just don't fucking exist, and when they do they're $1000+. They're so rare compared to Thinkpads and Latitudes
>>54327261
fun
>>54327302
Whats wrong with that laptop?
>>54327408
Sure, but why list windows as an distvantage?
You can just install a linux distro on the XPS right away, without having to use crouton, you can use wine on a distro on an XPS. The OS is irrelevant
>>54327261
>>54327128
holy shit
also that sound
>>54327248
what is this and where can i buy one
cost is not an issue
I know I will get downvoted for this but the new Macbook in space grey is cool. I hope they will make space grey Macbook Pros as well.
>>54327408
You need to run chrome OS alongside a real distro on the pixel 1. If you turn the thing off, it won't boot to anything besides chromeos because the boot flag is set in volatile memory. This stopped me from buying a used one for $400.
I run arch on an xps with no problems but I've read there's a bit more work to get everything working well for the pixel
Why the fuck is the SSD from Pixel not upgradeable?
The laptop would be perfect with a 512GB SSD and running linux.

You mean people replying saying your taste is shit? That would be the closest to a downvote here buddy. Let's put it this way, at least you stuck to topic and posted an aesthetically pleasing laptop unlike some of these other fools with their clunky, old as fuck laptops.
>>54326242
aweful wasteful and stupid design.
>>54327775
>>54328109
Taking the bait like real retards there
It's underpowered, expensive, and only has one port. But by fuck is it one of the best looking laptops around.
>>54327341
The Adamo did look awesome, but were expensive as shit for the average power they provided. Also, the name reminded me too much of Admiral Adama from Battlestar Galactica.
Were they durable?
>>54328150
More laptops should have an edge-to-edge keyboard design. Reduced keyboard bezels (excluding palm rests) is a more important design factor than screen bezels IMO, since screen bezels actually have a small bit of utility (keeping the active portion of the screen fingerprint-free).
>>54327640
I like the look, but I'm a macfag, and that macbook keyboard is fucking awful.
>>54327849
>People actually believe this
>People actually like 1 USB-C to be used for power supply, sd card reader, phone connector, usb stick, mouse, external monitor, projector, network
>People are fucking retarded
>>54326133
chromebook pixel sure is one of the most aesthetically pleasant notebooks.
would be cool if it would also be available in black brushed metall for some kind of CR-48 Chromebook prototype aesthetic.
also love the industrial "form-follows-function" design of the old Thinkpad T60/ T60p / T61 with its 4:3 ratio.
The small display bezels of the Precision 5510/ XPS 15/ 13 (>>54327450) and the thin keyboard bezels of old thinkpads (like: >>54326666 / >>54327223) are also aesthetic as fuck!
A notebook that would combine the sleek and minimal Design of the Pixel C/ CR-48 with the small display bezels of a XPS 15 and small keyboard bezels of an old thinkpad. with a non retarded aspect ratio and the usability & function of a thinkpad would be pretty much perfect design wise.
>>54327341
Too bad those didnt take off.
"Premium" "Design" "Laptop" that wasnt
>no, nooooo! We are totally not doing a ripoff of the macbook's design!
>no, what makes oyu think that? Our grey is a totally different grey from apples, see? Totally different design!
Looked really nice, and with the ultrabook craze nowadays, they could have easily been built in a quite powerful version.

>>54328197

>>54329189
Did you not read the several posts in this thread that say "the laptop is shit, but it looks pretty"? These aren't necessarily laptops we want to own, we're just judging them by their aesthetic qualities.
>>54327657
You can install coreboot to get around that you know
>>54329174
Knowing HP I'm sure that actually runs at a hot enough temperature to really blue the hinge pieces.
>>54329174
>putting ports on the back of a laptop
>>54329456
CARLITOS!
>>54329456
Since it was meant to a be a gaymen laptop, actually ports on the back make sense.
Like when it's on a table it makes the surface cleaner, because you can't see any of the cables from the screen.
Only the jack and 2 usbs should be on the front or on the sides
>>54326701
I wish I could find a company that ships those to the UK. I think I'll just get a x60 and libreboot it.
I always liked the Pavilion DV9000, too bad that the motherboards were known for dying easily.
>>54326133
I'm wondering about getting a surface book. How un-windows10-able is it?
>>54326617
Nintendo DS Tocha?
i would say the pixel.
i have a samsung xe550c22 (series 5 chromebook) I think it looks nice considering I spent less than $100 on the laptop and less than $150 maxing RAM and upgrading the mSATA ssd.
The pixel is nice with its RAM, however their mSATA port goes through usb lines. This means any SSD upgrade is essentially just for bulk data storage, the OS must always be on the native chip.
the cheap chromebook I have can use terabyte SSDs and run off them too. The max ram is 8gb compared to the pixels 16GB, and the processor is only an intel celeron at 1.3gHZ. I find with SeaBIOS and hydrogen - I have more than enough RAM. Everything works, only trackpad synaptics need manual adjustment. Virtualizes windows great.
Id like a pixel, but honestly its not as cost effective to me.
I love my Pixel, I don't think I'll ever find a laptop as good.
>>54330102
100% un-windows10-able.
Ubuntu apparently works great on it.
But the real question is: why would you?
Are there any laptops out there that are actually made of exposed carbon fiber? I would've sworn I'd seen some but Google is only coming up with fake carbon appliques and cases and stuff.
>>54330396
*apparently you will have difficulty getting the dGPU to work.
As with all things, expect Linux to never work with GPUs.

>>54326372

>I have a work provided T440p (same trackpad) and it sucks balls
The T450s (which my company deployed to our users for most of last year) is arguably the most attractive and efficient laptop that "just werks".
>it's the T440s with a proper trackpac/buttons
>>54330345
I would probably jump the pixel if it had my engineering applications
But then again this is like Microsoft and their shit trying to put it all on a store. I honestly don't know how much freedom I can trade for the walled garden comfort that something like the Chromebook offers.
Maybe if win 10 wasn't so shit I wouldn't be clamoring for a pixel.
>>54329174
Nobody supports HP, their laptops are well known for having problems and overheating.
I wonder why, in all this time they never fixed that problem.
How much is $1-2 more per laptop for getting some better reputation?

For sure, it's great for everything but heavy applications (CAD, post processing). I want to get build a pc for photography and gaming so I'll be doing that soon. But I really, really like the fact that I never have to worry about anything, it just always works. I just look back to when I used Windows a couple years ago and how much it sucked and how much up keep I had to put into it. The Pixel is just a better computing experience in every regard. Yeah I can't do anything heavy but I really enjoy everything I do on it, and I don't need a lot of computing power to do what I want. I don't want to spend $1000 for a windows laptop that's going to shit itself in a year. Different strokes for different folks, but I love mine.

Well, even though Apple is one of the only PC manufacturers that still has growing sales, their PC profits fall below not only those of their iOS devices, but now even below the profit made from their web services. Macs are some of their least profitable products.

Search for Panasonic Let's Note SZ on Rakuten Japan then based on the listing you find you need to switch that over to Rakuten Global.

If I recall articles that covered how people caught using tor went to honey pot sites and got malware that allowed them to get tracked.
If you browse using tor on a ram disk wouldn't you still be safe?

Based on TT, there is a lot of room for improvement in laptop aesthetics. So far there have been some nice ones, but nothing really beautiful.
Thinkpads and Macs are on opposing ends of the design spectrum. Hmm...besides those, I think some of the Japanese only NEC, Panasonic , and Sony offerings are aesthetically pleasing. I have to say that aside from its shitty logo, all of the Razer Blade laptops, especially the new generation with RGB keyboards so you can set it to white if you hate other colors. Most everything else the company makes is shit, but they somehow put together black metal alloy thin, light, gaming PCs with IGZO full gamut 1440p and 4K touchscreens

I know you hate it but things are only gonna move forward from here, and the cloud thing is gonna be better supported. The only real obstacle for cloud right now is dated/lack of infrastructure. Rest assured, Google is working in and out of those restrictions.
