why does tinder run so shitty on my nexus 6p
>>

Because Tinder is a normie social app.

>>
>>54321800
normie apps (tinder, snapchat, instagram) are all optimized for the iphone. My old iphone5 runs these apps better than the latest android flagships because the developers don't give a shit.
>>
>>54321813
It is the best you can get probably. Seeing how much users say TouchWizz is shit, there's really no other alternative to G5. To make it more clear - I don't think you'll waste your money buying G5.
>>
>>54321821
It's just tinder and clover a little, everything else runs fine.
>>
>>54321263
>Start simple, change the charging cord. I experienced issues with slow charging on the fast charger and it turned out to be a defective cord.
No go. I tried both the cable that came with the phone and the cable for my old phone and got the same results. I believe that it's charging at the correct speed when it says fast charging; it's just that it keeps acting like it's being unplugged and plugged back in randomly and rapidly.

Not sure if it matters but it doesn't behave like that with my old phone's wall charger or when connected to a computer.

Hey guys, I got the RNP3, really like it. I'm looking for a power bank that has good 5V/2A output to the phone, and has a fast charging input (18w etc) since I'll be travelling a lot, it would be good to at least top up the power bank quickly.

Anyone wanna weigh in on GSM vs CDMA in U.S.?

I know CDMA is proprietary bullshit that prevents carrier-moving, but a glance seems like more carriers in US use it.

Was considering a Galaxy S7, but the unlocked is only GSM international (with no warranty - because fuck samsung customers)
The CDMA from-provider galaxy come with stupid contracts and little freedom since your number and things aren't stored on a sim card you can just take to any phone/company.

But the main listed GSM networks are AT&T and T-mobile.
Never going to use T-mobile with their bullshit fees and leaning towards leaving AT&T (since they're rolling out bullshit charges data caps for u-verse home internet)

Are one of these smaller companies that piggybacks off AT&T towers a better option or is GSM without those two big whore companies going to be a hassle?

Redmi Note 3 Pro Shill here, Gold 32GB 3GB RAM Masterrace reporting in, Ask me anything.

MIUI-7 is amazing.
Battery life is amazing, heavy use (3G always - No 4G coverage in this area): 5+ Hours of SOT
My GBA Emu runs flawlessly as expected, other than that I only played fallout shelter for a bit, it takes a while to load but it runs as smooth as fuck.

All apps are smooth, even Snapchat and other heavy / badly optimized apps, I can run at least 8 apps and multitask between them with no issue and no reloading (3GB RAM FTW) but I rarely do that, I mostly use 2-3 apps and that's about it desu
Phones perfect, paid 350$ for it with delivery to my door, can't be happier, I also had a tempered glass screen protector, case and 32GB microSD delivered which all came 2 days later (Amazon) and the case fits snug and the screen protector feels good and dosnt feel cheap (Tempered Glass), MicroSD card is a Sandisk, R/W is around 40mbps from Windows when copying shit.

When the device came though, after I set it up it had some Kingroot and Apus shit and was all system bundled and I wasn't bothered to manually debloat so I just wiped and flashed Global Stock latest MIUI 7 via MiFlash and all works fine with only Facebook , WPS Office & Fleksy pre installed as user apps (I removed all except WPS Office which genuinely seemed to be useful for PDF viewing)

TIP for MIUI users, pinch out in recents screen to get full view of recents (pic related).

Droid Maxx. Pretty good, nearly 2 years on and I still get a day and a half roughly for battery life. Bump question from the other thread. Input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to buy a new phone. I bought a nexus 4 back in 2012 and I'm still using it. I was looking into chink phones, specifically the Xiaomi Redmi 3 (not the note, the 5'' one) but then I saw there's a pro version. I don't really care about the finger print scanner or the 32gb over the 16gb (since there's expandable storage) my nexus 4 is only 8gb (5ish usable) and it's a struggle but I've survived.

I'm worried about the 2gb over the 3gb and if it's worth it, seems like MIUI is really a ram hogger and coming from stock Android that could be an issue.

Mostly I'll browse the Web, listen to music and the most power intensive game I'll play will probably be Hearthstone. Is 2gb enough? Because if it is then I'll just get the redmi 3.

Also w2c lads? Aliexpress doesn't accept PayPal.
>>
>>54324037
gearbest accepts paypal, iirc.
don't worry 'bout miui, use an aosp rom.
>>
>>54324078
Yeah but they have the redmi 3 pro for 199 and only shipping on late may.

Do you have more info on the aosp Rom? There seems to be a ton of info for the redmi note 3 but not so much for the 5'' one.

bumping for some feedback on the Nexus 6P.

How does the battery hold up? Is heating a genuine problem? Is it sturdy? My old Nexus 5 was incredibly flimsy.
>>
>>54324250
if you thought the nexus 5 was flimsy, i can already tell you not to get a 6p because the 5 is a tank next to the 6p

I was showing my mom a demo on how to recognize malicious sites on mobile and what to do when you encounter them. In Europe there are a lot of scam sites that look something like this:

"Omg your phone is full of viruses! You battery will explode and your phone will be bricked in [5 minute timer]. Enter your phone number on the next page and we'll send you a pin code, then enter it here and we will remove it all for FREE!*"

*massive wall of text saying in short: initial sms is free, then $80/month will be billed to your number

I was showing her a bunch of sites like this as examples on what to avoid, but one of them was really weird - as soon as I visited the site, it sent an SMS directly to her phone number ("Reply to this number with ACTIVATE to scan for viruses").

How the hell can a malicious site do something like that from the browser? Lightning doesn't have any permissions to view the phone number, see the sim card or anything. Really creeped me out.

Things I am looking for in a phone:
- $200-$400 pricepoint
- Able to handle multitasking (ie play music and browse Chrome simultaneously. Nothing intense.)
- Social Media Apps don't have much lag issues (IG, Snapchat, FB, etc)
- Video Streaming on WiFi is not an issue (YouTube, Netflix)
- Battery can last at least a day with average use

*Important to know:
- I am a basic phone user and don't play any mobile games but use it for the above reasons + tasking apps (ie Calendar, Google Keep, etc)
- I only have a 1GB Fido Month-to-Month data plan. So you can tell that I don't go on LTE often.

I get an average of about 5hrs sot pretty consistently. Heat hasn't been a problem at all for my usage, mostly just heavy web browsing, music, and youtube videos. My previous phones (gs4, ip4) both got much hotter with the same use. While setting up my n6p along side setting up two iPhone 6, the iPhones got much hotter just running updates. I can't speak for phone gaming on any of these devices because I am not a faggot.

The n6p is not filmsy, you can't bend it like my galaxy s4, it's definitely fragile/slippery though, wouldn't use it without a case.

Check out https://bestmvno.com/ and shop around

sprint and verizon are the cdma carriers, all others are gsm (in the states). they do have MVNOs that use their networks, like boost mobile or freedompop, but it's over their towers. Sprint and verizon also do not like to share even if your phone is capable of both frequencies; you'll have hell trying to getting either provider to whitelist the esn on the other network.

personally i have a couple freedompop and ringplus phones, all on free plans, along with a couple devices on straighttalk and puretalk for my parents on super cheap monthlies (since they only want minutes).

dual sim is useful if you travel a lot and don't want to get hit hard with roaming fees where a local sim might be dirt cheap (think like $45/month in US vs $10/month in other countries). It's otherwise not very useful if you never travel but nice to have if outside US.

you could though pair it with freedompop's gsm global sim, can get like 600mb for free a month on it (get fpop friends, there's a big thread on it in slickdeals forums) but latency is an issue. but it'd be a bit dumb to pay out the ass for a gs7 and have low tier service.

I've been waiting for the US Z5 to go down in price for 3 months now, and the price has literally not budged since the second week of release.
My GS3 still functions, but it's definitely showing its age.
Can I realistically expect the Z5 to hit the $400 price point soon, or should I just get a LG G4?
Amazon has the US black unlocked one for $299, and I can buy a Zerolemon battery on top of it, which would be a bonus.
But there'll be an autistic hole in my heart knowing that I could have had a Z5 if only I would have waited longer.

I've never had a smartphone but I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind paying more for quality, so I was looking into the s7, but a lot of people here seem to hate the s7, is it legitimately overpriced or is it a whole 4chan "hate anything popular+expensive" thing? what should I get if I'm addicted to internet and plan on using my smart phone all the time.

also, I've never heard of any market where stuff "made in china" was trustworthy, yet this board seems to swear by "chink shit" and even has a general dedicated to chinese phones and stuff, are they really that good for the price? Or are people just buying them because its cheap?

So I broke my Note 5 on Friday night, and have to wait until mid next week for insurance to send me a new one. I can't go without a phone that long, so I went to Target last night and picked up a prepaid phone to stick my SIM in.

My choice was between some ZTE thing and a Lumia 640, and I decided to go with the Lumia because it seemed less shitty and I was curious what Windows Phone was all about. I'm kind of amazed that you can get a real working smartphone for less than 50 bucks these days, this thing is surprisingly decent. Windows Phone is weird as hell, though, and I especially dislike the like of a central home button, having to find the little power button on the side to wake it up is awkward.

>>

The charger it comes with is only 0.5A and I haven't tried others, but yeah when you plug it in nearly dead it estimates 3hrs to charge. They will announce the new one(s) in the next couple weeks (or more reliable leaks), and the only deals I've seen occasionally for the 3rd gen are $200 for the 16gb and ~$150-175 for the 8gb. They will drop after the announcement I'm sure. Also if I remember right there's two versions of the 2016 Moto G coming up.

I strongly advise buying a phone solely based on getting into VR. Phone VR right now sucks because of the shitty gyrosensors and no rules about apps having to run at 60fps standard unlike GearVR's Oculus Store. Even if this is shilling you will not get the true VR experience with a phone unless you have GearVR. Used S6s go for $250 and the Gear VR is $100, unfortunately no SD card so if you're gonna try out VR movies, who am I kidding, VR porn*, expect them to take up a lot of space (500 MB ~ 2.5GB each) all from speculation on /t/ threads

Why don't you just try and get your hands on a used DK2 for $300 on eBay or even invest in Razer's OSVR which costs exactly $300?

If you MUST have phone VR (in which you will get bored very quickly)

I'll narrow down your searches.

Do not get anything below 1920x1080 otherwise your experience will be shit. 2560x1440 is optimal

Expect your battery life to tank while using it, so have something well above 2600mAh

>Post a mini-review of your phone
Pic related, I have been using it for a few days and to tell the truth there's hardly anything good about this phone other than it being a flip phone without a Jap-only android OS. Hardware is overpriceed in every single ways possible. For the same price you can get a proper jap keitai with waterproof, much better cameras and a keyboard with touch cruiser or a chink phone which can perform 6 times faster. Did i mention that this thing has a flat keyboard? That design is fucking retarded because you may actually want some bumps on certain keys in order to type without looking. What's good in a 12 key pad if you have to stare at them everytime you type? Oh and the 2k mAh battery too, good luck surviving through the day until you can get home and charge your phone, this thing probably has 3 hours SoT at best, and that is without gaymin, just web surfing and regular phone things.
>Discuss upcoming and current models
Not an upcoming model because this phone was made in 2013, It's the N-05E. Now that's something worth bragging about. No kidding why the fuck noone ever bothers come up with some thing like that instead of rehashing same shit like 5000 times? I will get it when I have a chance and hope for the best it won't be discontinued by then.

Holy shit what a piece of shit it's slow it only gets 1 hour and a half of Screen on Time before dying.

The screen is utter shit with burn in all over the place, the worst color reproduction ever I've seen, a max brightness of nothing and that super AMOLEL pentile layout is just horrid.

It somehow runs Marshmallow though and does quite well, the speed I can blame squarely on the new apps being crappy as fuck because loading it with 2012 apps makes it pretty fast again.
