What kinda phone do you have? Preparing everything to root a phone usually takes less than 5 minutes..
Anyway, do you notice anything that is worse now? Like the sound quality, or the camera? Can you take videos?

This was my first time doing it. I had an LG G3 model that's finicky to root. I had to try a few different methods to get it to work (one only worked the second time, for some reason) and also had to install TWRP and some other shit. I also installed a shitty old "stable" CyanogenMod to be conservative and had to reflash it because it was shit. Also soft-bricked it once with SuperSU.
Everything seems good or better than the stock ROM. I use it to stream video for jury-rig VR. The interface isn't as flashy, but it's great to have all the bloatware GONE. I can also use it as a hotspot etc. with no interference.
I don't use it as a phone at all (No SIM card), just a small tablet, so I don't have anything to say about how it impacts that whole end of things.
