Don't beat yourself up. Opus is very agressive in hiding audio artifacts. Some music sources are more efficient compressed than others. I have to say for a freetard codec it's pretty amazing considering it shits on WMA and MP3.

i did blind tests and could distinguish 320kbps mp3s from lossless files. for plebs, anything after 220 kbps is fine, but everybody knows that.

No it's literally objective depending upon user's age/hearing damage/ability to accurately pick out audio artifacts/ect.

No you can't. Do an ABX test between 320k mp3s and a lossless source. MP3 sucks ass but it's still audibly transparent at ~192k.

First of all nice trips. I do know how statistics work but I also know some outliers simply can't exist.

He isn't, human hearing is garbage not only because we can only hear up to ~20KHz frequencies but because we have a hard time finding audio artifacts at high bitrates. Fact is we guess the shit out of sources whether one "sounds better" than the other one. This is why every single human being has failed an ABX test between 320k mp3 and a lossless source. If you have a link to someone actually proving otherwise then please enlighten me.
