Personal computer? I don't think I understand

What is lynix? Linux? That is a kernel, it can't really be a car but it's just one small, yet important component of a working Gnu/Linux system.

Windows is like an apartment. Shitty, cheap, someone else does the maintenance, but in reality, it's not yours.
OS X is like a condo. You can do more with it, but not much. It's expensive, but at least it's usually nice.
Linux is like a house. It's as nice as you make it, it's yours, it sometimes requires work, but in the end, it's better than an apartment or condo.

Linux is the name of the OS, and also happens to be the name of the kernel as well, since there isn't any reason they have to be named two different things, What your refering to "GNU/Linux" is nothing more than a meme, created by a old fat man that could never get his OS working, so instead attempted to steal the glory of linux because some applications and come bundled with a few distros of linux.

Windows 10 is a 5 seater car where you can only use the drivers seat
>>
>>54274378
But that's not true at all. The GNU userland is on top of the Linux kernel. The Windows 10 userland is on top of the Windows NT kernel and we call it Windows 10, so it really would make more sense to call the OS GNU.
I call it Linux anyway for the priest if effective communication, but it's disingenuous at best to say that Linux is the OS.
>>
>>54274955
>The Windows 10 userland is on top of the Windows NT kernel and we call it Windows 10
Because that's the name Microsoft wants to market it as, There used to be a Windows NT OS, using the NT kernel, Since the GNU userland isn't required for linux to be a complete OS your argument is moot and flawed.
Linux IS the OS, Linus called it Linux, everyone else calls it Linux.
>>
>>54275034
But that doesn't make sense.

It's just the Kernel. i don't call my Windows 7 installation "Windows NT", because that might be the name of the kernel but I don't use my kernel solely as a computing system.
>>
>>54275066
It makes perfect sense, what your failing to see is that just because the kernel is named linux, doesn't mean that the OS can't also be called linux as well. Like i said, Microsoft markets Windows 7 as Windows 7, but for awhile there was a OS called Windows NT, that also ran on top of the NT kernel, and without the kernel, you have no OS at all.

>>
>>54275034
I already said that I call it Linux, fuck off with your misplaced sense of superiority. And no, it isn't an OS, it is a kernel. There is nothing but the kernel that is named Linux. The GNU userland isn't required, but a userland is required and Linux is not that userland. The most popular choice is GNU, but it's obviously not the only one. The only time an OS would properly be called Linux would be if Linus developed his own userland and also named that Linux.
>>

The distributions that call themselves Linux.
Its Ubuntu Linux
>Not Ubuntu GNU/Linux
Its Arch Linux

Also, who made RMS the king of linux? Why should it be called GNU/Linux just because he said so? Its nothing but BUTT/hurt because he never finished GNU/Hurd

What's an "OS X Userland"? They don't exist.
OSX's user space is mostly Darwin BSD and shit downloaded from the app store, last time I checked.

>>NT kernel + Windows userland
What's a "Windows Userland"?
Another thing you just made up.

>>Linux kernel + Android userland
No such thing as an 'Android userland'. Just Android OS's user space which usually includes 90% shit people got off the appstore.

>>Linux kernel + GNU userland
No one uses only GNU software. A userland is comprised of all software that isn't the kernel.

You're a tech illiterate, anon.
