Why logitech stopped producing G400s/G400, My MX518 is on its last legs and I want a replacement, that has the same button configuration.
Seeing how it goes for 150$ on amazon means that there is demand for it, why the hell isnt Logitech meeting it?

The Avago sensor used in the G400(s) is flawless. The Pixart sensor used in that has jittering issues. It is in no way better.

I contacted Logitech about my G400s for replacement because the wire was fucked on it.
They said they stopped manufacturing G400s and said they would replace my mouse with the G402 like how they replaced my G400 for a G400s last time I contacted them.
I actually like the button placements a little better, maybe not the front two that used to be where the scroll wheel was but it's fairly comfortable. You'll get used to it.

It happened very often to me that the cable blocked one of the buttons. They advertise this for gaming, but "in the heat of the battle" shit like that happens way too often.
Also that fucking blinking G needs to be covered when you're sleeping (and have your main running) because it lights up the whole room.

G402 is actually bretty gud and weights about the same, I actually prefer the buttons on it.
Though I'd get a Zowie EC1-A or EC2-A if I were in the market for a new mouse because they finally fixed all the issues and are the closest to pure Intellimouse clones.

No. It going for $150 on Amazon means that a specific group of people are willing to pay that much.
To start up production again, Logitech would have to aim at selling a certain amount of them to offset initial production costs.

I'm aware of this.
Logitech's config programs were always shit, and in the case of almost every earlier model completely optional. Also I don't see the use of having another configuration level between driver and OS settings and the peripheral. That's why I don't use it. Things not working out of the box nor being directly configurable (direct in the sense of you don't need to install 'X') is just bad development.
Imagine the dialogue: "Why is this program here running?" "That the mouse doesn't blink so bright." to get a grasp of the absurdity of this situation.

If you don't use the +/- dpi buttons and mostly care about the two side buttons and live in EU.
Go for Mionix Castor. You can get a "used" one on Amazon Marketplace for about 35€ in very good condition.
The castor has the PWM 3310 Sensor, a braided cable, mostly the same layout, nice rubbery finish, RGB lights, Omron switches and good software you don't need to install.
What else could you wish for only about 35€?

LGS macros is like user friendly autohotkey, I was surprised how powerful it is. Sometimes LGS has problems detecting the active program, but alt+tab fixes that.

I have a g602 that I got on sale, solid mouse. Hasn't broken in 6 months. Side buttons are useful and easy to click but not misclick. The sensor does not work on bed though, if you're into the ultra comfy bedtop computing.
And I use it for graphic design and other money making computer ventures so yes a wireless gaming mouse is not just for gaming.
