I'm looking for a simple, reliable and cheap MP3 player. I remember hearing good things about the Sansa Clip+ but the days when it was dirt cheap are over. What are other alternatives?
>>
Just use your phone, holy shit.
>>
>>54244489
I cannot comprehend this autism.
To op: Sansa disk clip plus is godtier, try to get one. Any new product of theirs such as sport plus will do the job just fine
>>
>>54244489
Are you one of those people who gets mad at people wearing watches?
Having a separate player has its advantages, especially if you need to or simply prefer conserving the phone's battery for the longest time possible.
>>
>>54244367
Philips GoGear Vibe is perfect. The screen is slightly larger than Sansa's (so you can see more items in the menu), and its battery lasts for an insane time.
>>
>>54244595
I have an mp3 player because of the battery, but watches is really for retards if you have a phone or anything else in your pocket.
>>
Searching for a nice portable player too, don't want to use my phone.
Thought about clip+, but it is too expensive here for a used player.
Thought about the Sony NWZ-A15. I don't care about all the faggotry features, but it's small and looks kinda neato.
Also considering Fiio X1, but it looks like a massive steal brick and I read that the ui is clonky as hell
>>
>>54244647
Buy a Philips GoGear Vibe. I'll give you a refund if you don't love it to the point of cumming over it.
>>
I'm glad I have 2 Rockbox'd Clip Zips lying around.
Shit is great

Zen Touch 2, running android.
or
iPod Nano 7th gen.

Both great items, both with very long battery plus. Imho even though I'm an android man, I had more problems with the Zen Touch 2 (it's cheap, expected nothing less) compared to the Nano, and now my nano is my main thing for travel, gym, and running. Would absolutely recommend if $100 isn't out of your price range.

It's already 2016 and you oldfags are desperately clinging to obsolete technology for some reason. You have to learn to let go and move on. mp3 players were amazing for the 2005-2010 era but their time is over. Android phones have now completely replaced the need for mp3 players. They have absurdly long music playback battery life (24+ hours) and can wirelessly connect to bluetooth heaphones with absurdly long music playback battery life as well.

Using your phone to listen to music ~1 hour every day will have very little effect on overall battery life for your phone. Having a PMP will only increase the amount of clutter you will have.

I'm not mad people use PMPs just grossed out. You're like the hipsters who listen to music on record players and post about how "superior" the experience all over the web.

Unless you live in africa price is also not a problem. You can find Android phones for under $100 that have 3,000 mAh batteries.
>>
>>54244998
Are you an audiofool?
>>
>>54245008
>post about how "superior" the experience all over the web.
No one's doing that. It's just a matter of preference, and most sane people don't want to walk around with more than one phone on them.
>>
>>54245034
I work in a recording studio and listen with monitors that cost 8k each, so I guess so

Most high end flagships come with top of the line wolfsob dacs
The htc one m8 can rival most if not all audiophile daps

Plus the average battery music playtime for phones is around 70-80 hours
>>
>>54245052
>No one's doing that. It's just a matter of preference, and most sane people don't want to walk around with more than one phone on them.
Correct, most people just own a phone that ALSO acts like a PMP. So why don't you? Do you like looking like hipster trash or are you genuinely brainwashed that PMPs are somehow "better" than modern Android phones with ~3,000 mAh batteries?
>>
>>54245008
i like being able to go biking without worrying about losing my phone
>>
>>54245125
>EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME IS HIPSTER TRASH

nice one tripfag
>>
>>54245125
Not who you were talking to but I prefer having as little in my pockets as possible when I go running in my short shorts. Keys and a small clip-on music player and that's it. No need to carry my clunky phone. Plus I can keep my workout music separate from my rest-of-the-day music in my phone.

No need to be hostile.
>>
>>54245008
Kind of what that tripfag says.
I have a Moto g3 and a sound Blaster Jam, i can listen to music all day without putting a dent in battery life.

Though I still consider mp3 players a legit alternative, especially if your phone has no SD card slot (music collection sits at ~120gb currently)
>>
>>54245200
Kys manlet, I bet you love >5inch screens
>>
>>54245125
Maybe people just want to drain the phone's battery as little as possible. "modern Android phones with ~3000 mAh batteries" aren't shit because 90% of them can barely manage 2 days without needing a recharge. Plus if you travel around a lot it's a good idea to use a different machine to listen to music for as long as you want without worrying about getting kekd by the 3000 mAh battery. Sometimes you don't want to bring a phone at all, or you want your music player to be small and light (which modern phones are anything but). Phones and PMPs are both tools and the user selects the tools he wants for whatever job or situation he wants, not the other way around.
You're not going to be baiting anyone, tripfag. Now go away before I snatch your motherfucker birthday.

The new Sandisks: Sport or Jam model (8gb, ~$45)

or

ipod shuffle (2gb, $50) or nano (16gb, bluetooth enabled, $150)

Why are the discontinued Sansa Clip+ going for $100? I get that they were excellent for the price they released at, but what was so great about them to warrant that price now?

Shit's been with me for 8 years, chokes from time to time, but it's still marching on. My complaint now is the headphone jack; it no rikey not-Apple headphones. When I 'move' the headphone jack, the song stops. But it's a minor annoyance that I've grown to live with.
>>
>>54245254
So are 20 hour battery life/300 hour standby and A2DP high quality bluetooth headphones.

That's pretty pathetic that a tripcode triggers you and you don't even know how to filter one lel.

Go to settings on your 4chin webpage and enable filtering. Then click as if you were going to report a post and click "Filter selected text" and add tripcode that has triggered you.

Though you can skip all of this excruciatingly complicated process and go back to whatever containment SJW website you came from.

Can you guys just fuck off? I want to listen to music and talk about listening to music without using a personal tracking device. I mean you won, you took over the world and now all the little kids have one of your smartphones, but please? Please just fuck off and let me listen to music in peace?

Nobody mentioned their products. Whoever buys any kind of apple device is a completely and utter moron btw.

Sure thing senpai, don't forget to put on your tinfoil hat when you walk outside.
>>

I don't care which company you work for. Why would you click on a thread about personal music players and then type "LOL you're using that old shit? Just use one of our swanky new devices with a GPS built in! It's totally the same thing! ;)"
>>
>>54244567

Sport Plus can't be rockboxed, I unfortunately found this out AFTER purchasing one ($35).

For that same $35 you can get a refurbished clip+ that looks and feels brand new, very happy with my pair.

For ~$70 you can get a refurbished Clip Zip, which is rockbox-able with a color screen for playing almost-legible pokemon crystal.

Smartphone-ish features (10 band parametric EQ, compressor/limiter, ReplayGain etc, microSD slot) with actual physical buttons and you don't have to haul around a fucking epic memephone when you go jogging.
>>
>>54246128
I think one can do without rockbox. Does it do anything aside from adding fancy features?
>>
>tfw I'll never feel so excited about portable players like back in the day when I got the Zen Stone plus
>>
>Im too hipster to use my phone

>>
>>54246231

It takes out a lot of "anti-features", like my Clip Sport does this shit where it rebuilds the database any time you transfer music onto or off the card. I guess in the days of 2 GB microSDs this was sort of passable, but it's a major pain in the ass when you put two new albums on your half-full 128 GB card and now you have to wait 10 minutes on boot before your shit is even usable.

How small does it have to be, and do you need a clip?

They make ipod shuffle-style clones for literally $2 on ebay if you just want a jogging companion, Ruizu X02 ($15) is a decent choice if you want an ipod nano-style clone that takes an SD card and gets ridiculous battery life (stated "80 hours", I've never fully tested it from charge to discharge but I can verify at least 30 hrs.).

They also make some surprisingly decent ~$7 no-name ipod nano clones that take microSDs, though the noise floor is kind of high and the left and right channels are flipped.
