There's way more involved than resolution. A 1080p Vizio E series 55" will cost that much and be better and more reliable.

You're mixing things up here. These things you listed are screen technologies, not just "the way it's lit". In the case of LCD, you can have a LED or, if it's an older model, a CCFL backlight.

For everything other than games, 4k 60Hz is probably preferable.
Even then, i think I'd take the higher resolution over the higher refresh rate.

That spec includes h.265, wcg, and hdr tech. Ive looked around and none of the TV's I can find in stores are compatible. So whats the point of a 4K TV if it can't render 4K media in all of its glory?

Is there a dvr that works with OTA broadcasts? If so I can dump cable entirely. The only reason i have cable at all right now is to record network TV.

Actually been a really good TV and the cheap fuckers on SlickDeals are all about the brand.
Sure it wont look as nice as an expensive 4K tv, but its going to be reliable enough especially for the price.
