Ghostleeching is downloading files without taking a ratio hit (No Upload/Download Reported). You have to use a different IP for the actual downloading. Here is how it works:
1. You grab a torrent.
2. You Pause the torrent or severely limit the download speed
3. Write down all peers (IP and Port)
+++++++
On a different IP:
4. Add the torrent to your client
5. Remove the tracker (which has your passkey and identifying information)
6. Add the Peers and you are good to go!
You will now download torrents without being a member of the tracker
Note 1:
Due to DHT you can't "Add Peers" to Private torrents. You can either use a modified client (utorrent serenity) or Google "utorrent dht patcher" to remove the private flag and enable DHT
Note 2:
It looks suspicious if you add torrents, but dont complete them. So keep track of your IPs/peers and you will find some that are either "Archivers" or auto-snatch new shit. I add those by default.
Note 3:
This is a good method for "cross-seeding" Golden Popcorn torrents. Not a good method for obscure content

This is why you look for Archivers/AutoSnatchers/Seedboxes. This way you don't have to initially scrape the tracker (Note 2)
This is why you go for more popular/newer torrents. The size of the swarm protects you (Note 3)
If you use this method on rare torrents, this is what the staff sees:
-anon downloads a .torrent file. The torrent only has 1 seeder
-some ratio cuck uploads some GBs
-anons download did not increase
Repeat this and staff will see that you are getting the .torrents and gostleeching

Its less suspcious if you had a seedbox and use ghostleeching to kind of force it to always upload. But if you have a seedbox you don't need ghostleech

It's easy to detect ghostleeching, just see who downloaded the torrent file but leech 0 or very little. Cross check a few torrents and you'll find out who it was.
A more interesting experiment to run is to leech the file as usual, note down the peers and leech from another IP. The staff will scratch their heads to find out the ghostleecher and ban some innocent guy. Remember to do it on popular torrents only to avoid cross check. Good luck anons.

Its already done. You don't actually need a tracker. You don't even need the .torrent files. All you need is an info_hash + Peers
There was an IRC channel that used to do this. You used a bot to search for torrents and it will give you an info_hash. Then there were pastebins that had the Peer IP+Port
Peer curation was the most annoying part. You don't want the normal users. You don't really want the seedboxes, because they expire after a month and the port number changes. Dediboxes were the goal. We had a few, but most of the time we settled with seedboxes

That's not entirely true. Uploading new obscure movies will get you tons of buffer, and they have freeleech movies every few weeks.

Yeah exactly. People freak out about "impossible" trackers until they actually join and realize the free time they have posting on 4chan is more than enough to make you a shitload of buffer if you do the right things on those trackers.
I personally find it easy to get buffer on KG because you can upload any new, obscure foreign film there and somebody will grab it.

There's no reason to use a VPN on a private tracker unless you don't trust the tracker to keep you safe, but if you are seeding 1950's classic movies and European arthouse flicks then you chances of getting caught are 0.01%.

HDT is decent general tracker. I prefer it over IPT, because the staff are better. Otherwise comparable to IPT. HDT used to give out invites easily, you used to find dozens giving it out on 4chan. Now, invites are difficult and requirements at WCD are high. HDT is not cabal, if you care about it.
