How can you even be this dumb to believe that ?

You're a fucking retard.

The rechargeable battery lasts forever. You still have to recharge it.

You're being an idiot. He didn't say anything about infinite energy.

A human lifespan is an incredibly small amount of time.

And I hope you realize that nuclear reactors are made using, basically, magical rocks that stay hot enough to steam large amounts of water for thousands/millions of years.

Still not infinite, but it sure does show that yes there are simple rocks in this universe that can exude energy for a period of time far beyond that of a century.

I remember reading that the process that iran uses to enrich uranium(?) was actually invented by an iranian scientist, although he lived in the us...

also, the russians have helped many other countries, too

>>54170552
the problem is that these things are hyped too much, and, in reality, they are too costly and/or not as good as they seemed to be...

A nuclear reactor is not that fucking hard to make. They exist all over Europe, the US and in a lot of parts of Asia, as well as some Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia and Israel. It typically tends to be a political issue whether or not they can build one, and then it's only smaller states like Iran that the US can bully which is denied to build them.
>>
just in case anyone didn't actually read the article, what has been developed is a battery with a ridiculously high number of charge/discharge cycles. Modern batteries are basically fucked after a several hundred to a thousand cycles, this can be recharged over 100,000 times.

it's not infinite power, but it does mean laptop and electric/hybrid car batteries won't lose their capacity.

yes because that's seriously stupid and there are far more considerations in tires than how long they last. I bet they had all the traction and compliance of a bar of soap with rocks in it.
>>

>>
>>54169995
This. The move by most manufacturers towards non-replaceable batteries is another planned obsolescence thing. Oh, a year has passed since you bought your phone and it barely gets two hours of battery life? Better buy a new one! New phones also generally come out yearly. Hmm...

Fucking hell, get some brain.

>>54171002
>mfw brainlets get triggered over their own stupidity
It's a fucking Lithium-ion battery. Just think for a fucking second. Obviously they aren't violating the second amendment, so it's obviously not talking about the fucking capacity. When I see something like the Surface Pro 4, the first thing that I think about when I hear "battery" is "oh fuck, how long until it's useless and I need to toss it in the garbage," not how many fucking hours of jewtube I can get on it on a single charge.
>>
>>54171449
This is what the title of the article suggests.

>they aren't violating the second amendment
Dude, nobody cares about your freedom to guns. This is not what this is about at all.
>>

you can interpret the title in many ways...
>>
What is a lifetime? Like in Mexico or Afghanistan? That's not extremely long
>>
>>54170552
It has to do with the fact that many thing are promising but hard to produce economicaly viable on a large scale.

You need a company to be willing to bleed money for years and years before things become economicaly viable to really push new technology, like LG did with oled.

>>
This would finally convince me to buy a phone without a removable battery. I've been avoiding nice looking metal phones because I like to keep my phones for 3-5 years and I don't want the hassle of replacing dead or weak batteries. I use my phone a lot and charge it twice a day which fucks the battery up fairly quickly. I've already replaced my Note 3 battery because it was losing its charge in just 2-3 hours of OST. I live in a country where warranty doesn't mean shit and you're going to pay out the ass for simple battery replacement.
>>

>Nuclear reactors
>Hard for nation states to build
Goat fucking pakistanis and street shitting indians have them.
>>
>>54170351
The process is as simple as making oatmeal. The problem is maintaining a stable temperature out of these magical rocks and getting a supply of magical rocks in the first place.

Get magical rocks to boil water, it turns a turbine, said turbine generates electricity.
>>
>>54170351
The plants are super easy to make. It's the computers and the proper authorization from other countries that is dofficult.

Plants are literally just giant vats of water and turbines under 6 feet of concrete.
>>
Wouldn't this completely revolutionize Tesla's business?

I don't believe it, but I also didn't believe white LEDs would become mass market in a few short years.
>>
>>54170847
35 years would be a massive improvement on current lithium-ion batteries, those shits lose like 20% capacity a year if you're using them everyday.
>>
>>54169694
Even setting aside the fact that you're illiterate, you're implying that a human can use an infinite amount of energy in his life time
>>

quite a while

Proof of concept and functional, cost-efficient at consumer level product are entirely different things you absolute mongoloid. 7 years is pretty good time.
>>
Every week there's a new breakthrough in battery technology.

Yet it never seems to make it to the market.

So what does it matter? It seems we're stuck with Lithium Ion batteries for the next 20 years.
>>
>>54175657
It would remove a down the line maintenance cost, but people generally don't think about that, so probably not. Might save tesla some dosh in the long run of it.

There are all kinds of revolutionary battery technologies. The problem is bringing those specific technologies to the mass market, that is something that's not easy to do.
