You have 1 Planck time to explain why you aren't using the greatest distro of all time - Manjaro.
>>
>>54169626
Well, because I prefer to use a resolution of 1920x1080.
>800x449
>2016
I don't want to use a distribution for ants, pal.
>>
>>54169626
Because Antergos is better and the authors don't ask me to set back the date of my computer...

>>54169644
Think about what you have posted here today, before going to bed. Must have been a successful day.

Because I'm using Arch. I'm thinking of returning to Funtoo because systemd is suffering.

sounds like you fell for the "change is bad" meme.
Systemd have made my life so much easier and every distro that doesn't have it feels old
>>
>>54169626
The only and truly the only (I tried like 10) distro that can not boot my intel i7 6700hq skylake + nvidia 970m laptop. People like me posting this issue since 2-3 months on forums are virtually ignored.

No matter what kernel version, what flavor, what boot parameter, even nomodeset. Manjaro is broken. Manjaro is shit.
>>
>>54170024
Lol no. It fucking sucks. I've been doing battle with it for the last month, and it makes me want to die a little bit. It's a hulking fucking mess that never should have made it into public use.

That`s why.

Ayy lmao this

Also they think their distro is stable because they wait 2 weeks before they get their packages from arch's repo
>>
>>54170532
This. Manjaro is to Arch what Linux Mint is to Ubuntu. It's useless, amateurish and insecure.

Wait... you're telling me that delaying security updates by weeks improves neither security nor stability?
>>
>>54170946
Well, sheit. Good job dodging a bullet their, Manjaro.
>>
>>54169626
>manjaro

We just need 2 or 3 distros:
-Red Hat (for businesses)
-Debian (and ubuntu for normies)

Let's stop fragmenting the Linux ecosystem.
>>
Using Arch derivatives defeats the point of Arch existing. Why not just pick a different distro?
>>
>>54172092
>Let's stop fragmenting the Linux ecosystem.
There's not that much fragmentation, though.

Aside from package management, most distros are basically the same under the hood -- especially because of the rise of systemd.

I thought the entire point with open source was that if you don't like certain features of a product or where its development is heading you can just fork it and develop your own?
>>
what is the point of manjaro?
It breaks more often than arch and you have less support than with the real thing.
It doesn't have a focus like other arch spins, like chakra (good kde support) and antergos (easy install) so what is the point?
>>
>>54172092
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system on its own, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components fulfilling a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There truly is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux releases are really releases of GNU/Linux.
>>
Dunno what the problem with Manjaro is. I use it and absolutely love it. Better than any other distro I've tried yet. It just works.
>>
>>54170113
My laptop has a 4720hq and a 960m and Manjaro worksonmymachine(tm). You probably didn't disable secure boot in your bios.

Manjaro has just as much of an easy install as Antergos so it's at least as useful. The only thing about Manjaro that I like is the comfy desktop environments.

But it's based on shitty Arch, and their security is even more shit due to delayed updates for everything, lel.

Manjaro has a graphical installer that is very similar to the one Ubuntu uses, so that shouldn't be much of an issue. The Manjaro team has also developed a tool call mhwd (Manjaro Hardware Detection) that automatically detects and configures any graphics drivers you may need. For example on my laptop I have a 960m and didn't have to do anything at all to get it to work. It also configures Bumblebee, which allows you to run an application with your Nvidia card with the command primusrun or else will just use integrated graphics.
If you do decide to try Manjaro you should know first that after the initial installation you will have to do the following:
sudo pacman -Syy
sudo pacman -S manjaro-keyring arch-keyring
sudo pacman -Syyu
for your first system update.
