Try to remove EVERYTHING that you don't need. Then hide the stuff that you need but not that often.
Also try to make look everything as consitent as possible. Fonts, colors, paddings etc. should look identical everywhere, on your entire desktop.

Pretty sure you don't need the icons from the browser addons.
Also what did you do to your taskbar? It was default win7 in the other screenshot on that one it's not.
>>
>>54166535
A'ight, removed 3 icons out of 6, the other 3 I need every once in a while.
> Also what did you do to your taskbar?
Replaced with SystemBarEx from bb4win.
>>
>>54166550
>the other 3 I need every once in a while
I don't use vivaldi, but are they really that annoying to access through the menu in that browser? Because if it's just one click more and you don't need them on every second page, you might as well go for the better looking way and remove them too.

>>54166550
>Replaced with SystemBarEx from bb4win.
Ah good. I thought you were just autohiding it, and that's a second bar.
I'd probably make the bar use 100% of your desktop width, but that's preference. There are also people who can make a narrower bar look good.

Have you an idea what font and color-scheme you'd like to use yet? Because that can make a ton of difference.

Left Alt -> Tools -> Extensions... -> find the extension you need
Yes, it's rather annoying.
> Have you an idea what font and color-scheme you'd like to use yet?
Not really. There's not that much freedom of choice, either, most applications don't respect windows color scheme, especially with Aero on, and I can't turn it off.
>>
>>54166749
>There's not that much freedom of choice
It's not that you set your color-scheme at one point and are ready to go. Setting everything up can take a while, because you have to look up how to change colors/fonts etc of the programs you use. Just pick a scheme that you like and start with the easy stuff.

If you don't know what to pick, you could also base your colorscheme around your wallpaper, instead of the other way around. I'd pick a wallpaper with only a few colors though. Maybe look around this ( >>>/w/1899231 ) thread, theres a few good ones that you could like.

Once you've picked a color try to apply it to different parts of your desktop. Just change the color of the stuff you know how to change first, then look whats left, choose what looks the most out of place and look up how you can change it (or if it's straight up not possible, look for an alternative to that, that you could live with and has a way to change the color).

>But bb4win is not good enough, and neither is foobar.
What are the things that you don't like about these? I used foobar when I was still using windows myself, and I loved it.
>>
>>54167059
Pressing "next playlist" or "prev playlist" hotkey won't play the playlist you switched to. And since 90% of the time I control my player with hotkeys and can't be bothered to alt-tab, that is unacceptable. And bb4win is just bugged beyond usability.

If you don't look at your music program at all, then theres not really the need to change it optics anyway, so I guess you're fine in that direction.

Unfortunately I can't give you advice on how to make window-decorations good looking in windows, since I'm not using it anymore myself, but you can still just start and rice the other stuff the way I talked about in my earlier post. Get a wallpaper with a nice color pallette and apply that color-scheme to your bar and your browser styles for a start. That'll already make your desktop better. You don't need to change everything at once, just take your time and change things from time to time, even if it's just small changes, it can make big differences in the long run.

Thnx. Right now I'm looking at some JS code that I don't quite understand but I was told it's supposed to work, maybe it'll finally work.

Do you by any chance know how to delay JS script launch by ~1500 ms?
>>
>>54167494
Delaying things in JS is a bitch, since it doesn't wait for every function to finish before starting the next one. Maybe the function that you're waiting for has a callback, when it's finished? If yes, you could use that to start your script instead of waiting a certain amount of time.

Fuuuck yeeeah. Not only I created my first working user script, but it also works the way I want - changes the background color of all posts that contain (You), or, rather, contain .de-ref-my. Now all I need to do is choose a color for it (any suggestions?) and figure out how to add this as a function to dE, or maybe at least loop the function every 10 seconds (which is dE's thread update interval for me right now).
$(document).ready(
function highlightPosts() {
var posts = document.querySelectorAll('.post.reply');
for (var i = 0; i < posts.length; i++){
if(posts[i].querySelectorAll('.de-ref-my').length > 0)
posts[i].style.backgroundColor = '#228822';
}
highlightPosts(); // Call after fetching and displaying new posts.
})();

Hello!
>>
>>54170416
I think the problem here is that it's a gray area. Instead of (and I don't know if you guys actually do this, I'm just assuming so please correct me if I'm wrong) masturbating to real (i.e. human) girls that are prepubescent, they masturbate to anime prepubescent girls. Now to some people, that could be CONSIDERED pedophilia, but under definition it isn't. Pedophilia is a mental illness like you said. The difference here is that instead of getting off on girls that are young, they are getting of to anime girls that are young. But that's the gray area. Also, some pedophiles want to protect children, and not use them for sex, but will get off to them. There really should be more research and study put into this, especially for things like loli, where most of the people who jerk off to loli don't jerk off to actual kids, but they get off on cartoon kids. I personally am not into that stuff, but others are. I don't want to call others pedophiles if they like loli, because as far as I know and under definition and what we know, that person is not a pedophile. I feel like I'm forgetting something to add, but I'm kinda having a brainfart right now. If you have anything to add or other points (including contradictory), I'll be happy to engage in conversation/debate.

Have you ever tried installing OS X on a non-Apple computer? At least when you install Gentoo you have some idea what's wrong. With OS X if you get some ambiguous error you're probably fucked.
I'm sick of tinkering, I just want to use my damn computers.

>You could have your own cheaper, more powerful computer running that same good OS.
That's fine. I don't want to do that. I want a computer that works out of the box with my OS, while having a high quality screen. Yeah, I've got it running on my external hard drive and used to use it on my laptop.

There's no ambiguity if you're using the right bootflags. It's very self explanatory, some setups will read PCI slots in the wrong spot, if that's your situation, alter the root slot. Not hard.

I also use gentoo. What do you mean "what's wrong"? I'm really not sure why you'd pay literally hundreds above market price for 10 minutes of your time, assuming you're entirely tech illiterate and need to read forums before you do stuff

>>54175259
What? If updating your BIOS wipes your hard drive, you're doing it wrong.
>>
>>54175224
It's not great at all

Ports systems are simpler, easier to use, and less likely to break something with your package manager

If the AUR were just a big ass portage overlay there would be far fewer dependency issues, no need for a million buggy helpers, and no need to ever go makepkg yourself. Just edit the ebuild, or make a copy and use it in your own overlay.

>There's no ambiguity if you're using the right bootflags. It's very self explanatory, some setups will read PCI slots in the wrong spot, if that's your situation, alter the root slot. Not hard.
Until you start seeing shit like "BSD Root 12 Major 3 Minor 6" or whatever. Also sound not working correctly and updates breaking your install. Also having to use shit like Clover and loading EFI stuff.
I'd rather just get an iMac. I hate when my computers don't work how I want. I get furious actually.

>I also use gentoo. What do you mean "what's wrong"?
Standard toubleshooting. Audio not working, GTK2/3 themes not working correctly, accidentally fucking something up in the hour or two it takes to manually configure a kernel, portage issues, bootloader issues, etc.

>I'm really not sure why you'd pay literally hundreds above market price for 10 minutes of your time, assuming you're entirely tech illiterate and need to read forums before you do stuff
Because I don't want to spend a ton of money on something that MIGHT work after a bunch of trouble shooting. If I can't use OS X then I wouldn't even use it. I wanted to buy a computer I know would work with OS X for sure. I have nothing but terrible memories of trying to get OS X working on non-Apple hardware.
