post why you use ublock or adblock

I use adblock because ublock is being shilled hard so I don't trust it.

I use uBlock Origin because I don't like to see ads.

You're an idiot.

Ads make me want to puke as much as salmonella from undercooked chicken.

I ate undercooked chicken earlier and I feel very sick. It's pretty bad. Ads are like that.

Adblock because 80% of webpages have too many ads or irrelevant ones which make things load slower.

Ads are intrusive and the companies that push them are vultures. I don't support either, I browsed without an adblocker for the first time in like 7 years the other day...jesus how do people deal with that?

I can say I'd likely stop using the Internet if there were no ad blockers tomorrow. Not missing much, most Google results are bullshit top 10 list websites and the writers have been replaced with bloggers with Tumblr tier writing.

Information has taken a backseat to entertainment on the Web. It's mostly garbage now.
>>
>>54160815
I use uBlock Origin because is faster than Adblock Plus and don't need a separated extension to hide elements.
>>
Ublock to block most ads, umatrix to block YouTube ads
>>
>>54161093
? But uBlock blocks Jewtube ads.
>>
>>54160815
Ublock filters more block more than adds, they block so much all sevices went shit for me or disabled my account for suspicious activity - with adblock plus I get no problems at all browsing, obviously no adds and yea does the job.
If you want to use adblock plus make sure you go to filters and uncheck allow non-intrusive advertising.
>>
>>54161059

Yup.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuure you don't. Everything and it's uncle advertises.

We don't.

Yup.
>Information has taken a backseat to entertainment on the Web.
That happened years ago, but it's fine once you squeeze in and realize it's fucking huge back there.
>It's mostly garbage now.
That happened before it was consolidated into the internet.
>>
I have nothing against ads per se. Problem is they slow the shit out of my browser and drastically increase page loading time. That's not counting the intrusive ads with sounds which were the bane of my existence before I started using adblocking apps.
>>
>>54160815
Unrequested online ads get blocked because they:

- are in the form of popups
- have sound
- use flashy animation
- use distracting colours
- contain questionable content
- contain malware
- take up bandwidth
- take up too much space on a page

Fix your advertising style, or get blocked. Very simple.
>>
>>54160815
ublock more like uhide. i mean there is no denying it at this point the only thing that is being blocked by this extension are the pictures. inb4 abp shill.i dont even know how people can use a "blocker"(read as hider) that is literally worse than not using an adblocker.

Ads are mind control. It doesn't matter if they're "unobtrusive" or if you think you can ignore them, the act of seeing them out of the corner of your eye is enough to slightly influence future purchasing decisions. I would rather not allow people to pay to nudge me into making a decision against my best interests.

Security.
Websites no longer curate their ads, rather use large aggregate services that are easily exploitable.
Large, reputable sites are publishing ads that are malicious, and the only way to protect yourself is through ad and cookie blocking tools.

my browser makes a request for an HTML file from a public web server

public web server responds and gives me the HTML page

I take a look at this HTML page and see that it wants my system to make more requests to ad servers. since both the HTML file and my system are in my posession: I elect not to connect to said ad servers.

it's that simple

I refuse to use Ublock because of the constant shill threads on /g/ about it.

It wouldn't have to be meme'd and forced this hard if it was actually good.

I don't see ads with Adblock and that's all I care about. I couldn't give a shit if it's "not actually blocking them" or whatever the shills say

Ublock is run by a literal autist too.

ABP on the other hand is part of EIEIO, which allows advertisers to pay them to add their ads to their whitelist

but please, continue to suffer lag, use unecessary memory, and still see ads because
>muh autist
>>
>>54160815
I use an adblocker because ads are an increasingly common attack vector for malware.

People don't give a shit about who ads display on their site and so you'll get shitty ads that slip shit into your computer. Case in point when Japanese m00t had those shitty YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED scam ads running form the front page for like, goddamn six months.

Pretty sure OP was asking why you use a particular ad blocker, not why you use ad blockers in general.
>>
I use uBlock Origin because it's supposed to be lighter on system resources. I don't really care if it's really uHide or whatever as long as I don't have to see the ads. Normies prefer adblock so I feel uBlock is one step ahead of the game when websites try to be anti-adblock.
>>
>using Adblock

uBlock is superior in every way

I thought so too. But then I switched to ublock and the resource wasting problem was gone.

There's ublock and then there's ublock Origin which is what you should use. Everyone keeps saying ublock just like people used to say adblock when adblock plus was far superior.

Do you also refuse to use Linux, WIndows and Mac because they are always being discussed on /g/?

50kbps internet speed and I don't want to spend 10 minutes loading a page because of two dozen ONE WEIRD TRICKs
>>
Because:

- while I don't mind ads in general as long as they're not intrusive and IN MY FUCKING FACE CONSTANTLY and some websites, like CNN for example, will have HUGE FUCKING BANNER ADS IN MY FUCKING FACE CONSTANTLY - THE SAME AD 8 FUCKING TIMES ACROSS THE PAGE

- I don't like videos that autoplay and while I have Firefox set to not autoplay HTML5 content some of that shit still sneaks through hence uBlock covering the rest that atempt to do so

- I don't mind supporting a site that is ad-revenue based but it's got to be controlled and not intrusive like I just mentioned, they don't have to show fucking gigantic ads and if they say they do they need to partner with some other advertisers

- the difference between browsing with uBlock and the filters I'm using and have created vs browsing in a totally vanilla wide open browser is literally a night and day experience and I'm not a fan of the dark, fuckers

- popups, popunders, popovers, multiple window creation in the background, Javascript code malware taking over browser functionality, all that shit, fuck that

Fuck advertisers that abuse things and then bitch when the end users decide "ok, that's quite enough from you, scumbucket..."

Enough's enough, and since it requires some manual effort on my part to control what's coming into my browser, again I say "Fuck you..." to those advertisers that just go way too far in their attempts to shove their shit down my visual cortex.

Simple.
