Let's have a Kodi thread.

Do you use kodi? I was using Sling TV before I bought my Kodi box
>>
Why yes I am. Odroid c1+ with emmc module in living room. Just revived an old s4 I had lying around installed kodi and put it in the bedroom.
>>
I just use popcorn time on my laptop
>>
>>54106947
I use TVMC which is based off of Kodi that has a lot of repositories already installed for TV and movies.
>>
>>54106987
>I just use popcorn time on my laptop
Kodi+quasar+your choice torrent provider > popcorn time
>>
Im pretty much a scrub, but someone tell me if im using Kodi as i should.

All my crap is on my NAS and i just add the NAS to my Kodi as a source and just watch what i want.

I dont understand why people use Plex when Kodi is better, or am i missing something?
>>

>Im pretty much a scrub, but someone tell me if im using Kodi as i should.
>All my crap is on my NAS and i just add the NAS to my Kodi as a source and just watch what i want.
>I dont understand why people use Plex when Kodi is better, or am i missing something?
Sounds like what I do, except I just share from my desktop. Plex is good for streaming to gaming consoles and whatnot. Also, I believe you can access your content outside your local netowork with Plex.
>>
>>54107010
I'll try that, what makes it better than popcorn time?
>>
>>54106947
this shit still can't use anything apart from that shitty ffdshow player instead of MPC and MPV?
>>
>>54107334
>>>54107010 (You)
>I'll try that, what makes it better than popcorn time?
In my experience with it... Lack of content. I have magnet links set to open via yatse (kodi remote) which opens a stream on my media center.
>>
>>54106987
>I just use popcorn time on my laptop

kek what a joke
>>
Most add-ons are not P2P torrent services right? Need something like this, but not torrenting.
>>
>>54106947
No, I don't get it. Why should I use Kodi instead of sftp?
>>
>>54107334
>I'll try that, what makes it better than popcorn time?

You are not limited to whatever providers popcorn time has.

Actually, you're better off just using the sequential download feature on qBittorrent than using popcorn time or quasar.
>>
>>54107952
What? Popcorntime/qualsar is for indexing/interfacing. You could just go out and find the torrents yourself sure, but the point of stuff like Popcorntime is convenience.
>>
>>54106947
How do addons like Exodus work? It's not p2p right? Do they just link to streaming sites?

There is barely any documentation.
>>
>>54108071
You're correct, they basically scrap streaming sites for content links.
>>
>>54107856
https://www.tvaddons.ag/

its a collection of easy to install addons.
stuff like letmewatchthis/primewire. without the need to use torrents.
>>
>>54108071
>How do addons like Exodus work?

They search for filehost links to movies and TV shows and play it all in Kodi.
>>
>>54107856
>Most add-ons are not P2P torrent services right?

Yes. Only some are p2p and they are explicitly ID'd as such, like Quasar.
>>
>>54106947
>Kodi box
This meme needs to die. Kodi can run on anything. My tablet runs Kodi. I don't call it a "Kodi tablet". (Yes there are tablet skins for Kodi)
>>
Kodi is the shit.
>>
>>54108589
You can do something else in a tablet. Kodi boxes are pretty much for using kodi
>>
Where do I get the KissAnime addon for Kodi
>>
>>54108940
https://github.com/HIGHWAY99/repository.thehighway/tree/master/repo/plugin.video.kissanime
>>
is there an MLB.TV live stream add on for Kodi?
>>
where do i get iptv playlists that don't get taken down after 2 days? or a similar way to watch tv channels? i just want to tune up some channel without thinking what i want to see

What skin you guys running. Aeon Nox 5.7 master race here. I'd run Aeon MQ 6 but the Pi's too weak
>>
>>54109260
none because i'm not a fag
>>
>>54109260
I always end up going back to confluence.
The other skins either look like shit, or have too much customisation but not for the things you actually want to customize.
>>
>>54106947
wtf is this shit? AM I missing out on something?

Here's what I got. Plex + Fire TV + 100mbps connection
>>
>>54109260
New default skin with Kodi 17 is pretty damn nice. Clean and simple.

PS3-Bluetooth-Remote.jpg

Should I use Kodi over my PS3? Advantages / disadvantages of both? Mostly looking for a reliable and easy way to playback the media, I bought one of the PS3 remotes, and also have an extra Moto G to use for Kodi.
>>
>>54106947
I'm using an RPI for kodi but it's fairly laggy in the menus and sometimes shits itself with 1080p. Is it worth it building a small PC for kodi? What kind of specs should I be aiming for, if it's just playing 1080p and maybe a bit of Youtube streaming?
>>
>>54110475
>Should I use Kodi over my PS3?

duh yes
>>
>>54110513
if you want to watch 1080p videos don't bother with the RPI, a smaller but better upgrade than an HTPC would be an android machine or maybe even a laptop (i'm satisfied with my 100$ thinkpad connected to the TV)

Just finished resurrecting Gentoo on my thinkpad x61 tablet. Using it exclusively for Kodi 16. Too scared to run 17, am I missing out?
>>
i use a roku and plug my external into my tv like a non-poor cuck.
>>
Guys is there anything vetter than TVaddons.ag? Currently using Fusion but recently the services are just not working, I really miss Genesis.
>>
>>54111323
Use Exodus you uninformed fag.
>>
>>54110513
RPi are far too underpowered for browsing the library comfortably, a low powered PC would be much better.
>>
>>54111672
What are the minimum specs I'd need to play 1080p and browse the menus comfortably?
>>
>>54111691
Any ATOM processor, really. Or a good ARM board.
>>
>>54111738
Thanks anon, will do.
>>
>>54107028
this is fine but plex is botnet af so you'd do well to avoid it.
if your nas isn't a piece of shit, you might want to consider installing couchpotato, sonar, emby, and either nzbget or transmission on it
>>
>>54106947
Yup.
There is literally no reason to use cable in 2016. Whatever you can't stream you can torrent. Whatever you can't torrent you can stream.

What version Pi do you have? I have a stock clock Pi 2 that handles decently high bitrate 1080p (~1800+kbps) perfectly fine with no visible lag. I even use a nice looking skin for it.
>>
>just received my android box
>installed the Titan skin + Exodus on it
>Exodus has no favorites option
>My List requires me to use some stupid imdb/trakt shit
>Not everything is in HD
>Missing my old Plex + Roku + Sonarr setup

This shit is mediocre, but it beats me having to download shit all the time.

I'll try it out for a month, if the quality of the vids are still shit by the end of it, I'm gunna brick the android box and get my money back.
>>
>>54112053
Streaming has always been the pleb way of doing things senpai, are you like new? The only reason to stream is convenience at the cost of sacrificing literally everything else

I might try quasar instead, who knows.

Pi3 is completely adequate for nearly any encode you'll encounter.

I run Kodi on my main windows machine. Have a script that switches the display and audio to my AVR/TV when I press a button on my harmony remote and switches back when I exit Kodi. It works well, but I still want an Nvidia Shield as a dedicated all-in-one solution.

Also too many shitty streaming addon plebs in here. I thought /g/ would be better with the constant Private Tracker threads. I have downloads automated off of an IMDB watchlist using a bunch of different software.

What is the best TV Box for less than 70 dollars?

Raspberry Pi 3

Can vary depending on your needs. Look at the Kodi hardware forum.

Not any Atom, make sure to get an Ivy Bridge Atom or higher, else you might find it too slow. Any ARM higher released after 2013 is best, some before that may not work.
>>
I'm looking for a box that has an optical port and one that has an interface that is designed like a TV box so that it's easy for more than me to use, I don't just want an android box that uses kodi. What are my options?

Kodi + Sickrage + Deluge + Sabnzbd

I just add a show in Sickrage and it's all there by the time I return from work, or I can just watch it via Plex because why the fuck not?

I just want to be able to watch sports + american tv. I tried setting up the fusion repository but for some reason it appears empty when i try to install addons as zip

used first gen RPI with kodi, or some special build, mostly used it over wifi and 1080p x264 rips up to 20GB streamed fluid,
the UI is lagging because it has to load too many images for the parsed library, from the slow sd card, but playback worked

now using my fireTV stick over wifi and works too, didnt try very big file tho

I've been using Plex, sonarr and CouchPotato for about 2 months now and holy crap was it worth setting up

Gets a bit weird with some anime and, sadly, I can't use it for WWE but other than that I've had barely any issues. Its great to just be able to automate all this shit.
