The first one says 'there is no webserver by default, so it must be incoming traffic'.
It takes like 3 lines of code to have outgoing traffic over port 80 and this can be easily hidden anywhere. There is literally no way of proving that closed-source software does _not_ contain a webserver whatsoever. The writer assumes that because there is no webserver program avilable to the user, there must be none at all which is stupid.

The second one reasons
"MS says telemetery is encrypted" ^ "This traffic is not encrypted" => "This traffic is not telemetery"
In fact, the documentation/TOS does not exclude unencrypted traffic for reasons that are not called "telemetery" but can easily be interpreted as such (even the request source, which is included in any request, is a metric)

In the third statement the writer concludes that there is no spying at all, which is fundamentally impossible when dealing with encrypted traffic

If the NSA had a backdoor in Windows, it'd be invisible in the network stack, it's very possible to mask network traffic in an OS's TCP/IP stack.
>>
>>54119895
Yeah, but routers would detect the traffic, making it arguably more suspicious.

Relatively good sysadmin here - Windows 10 is spying. Call it telemetry, quality assurance, whatever the fuck you want. I've sat down and recompiled the TCP and UDP streams (the best I can) since the technical previews and this shit is spying on us all. I hold the opinion that Windows is the best option out there for general purpose computing, but Linux is safer, less big-brother garbage.

It is important to note that the NSA & CIA plant operatives with the intention of them being long-time, career oriented employees on the surface.

Bash MS all you want, they are good OSes but with some major problems, just like Linux. If the shoe were on the other foot and Linux held the market share, you bet your asses the terms Windows and Linux would be reversed in this thread, all else the same.

>>
>>54121556
>If the shoe were on the other foot and Linux held the market share,

it does hold the market share, by a massive 60-90% majority, on stuff that actually matters: public facing web servers, which by extension can be applied to non-public or public but not web servers

>you bet your asses the terms Windows and Linux would be reversed in this thread

the difference is the open nature of gnu+linux projects is that to sneak in malicious code (no, nobody will take you seriously if you try to implement telemetry or "anonymous" user statistics on gnu+linux systems) you have to implement it as a non-obvious bug and hope it exploit that bug in the future

the problem with this is that trying to backdoor code you know people will be auditing at some point will naturally be far more difficult than just frontdooring the code through the guise of telemetry and anonymous statistics, and that EVERY piece of code can be tracked back to you even over decades

not to mention that as far as some FOSS projects go, people are free to make pull requests but many, many maintainers are elitist fucksticks that are unwilling to accept code from random people, and while this isn't a barrier for entry if it's your literal job, it's not quite as easy as just submitting malicious code to projects

people target windows because it's low hanging fruit as far as the average users capacity to understand and to deal with threats and the ability for professionals to deal with those threats until windows publishes hotfixes, not because it holds the desktop market share -- end users and people in general are far more susceptible to social engineering than people who administrate public facing web servers
>>
>>54122148
>linux: 80% global market share

You have lost what little was left of your mind.

Wanna talk about suicide watch? Look at what Microsoft's done to it's users by accepting Linux subsystem...

Apparently, for now there is no way a regular wincuck with no GNU/Linux knowledge will be able to troubleshoot what's causing increase in his CPU usage:

Besides allowing bash scripters to write malware without ever touching or learning about Windows CMD and being a great platform for crypto miners, Windows is now vulnerable to Linux forkbombs and "rm -rf", on top of its own bad security.
>>

Yeah, it's a safe bet.
>le nothing to see, le nothing to fear.

Now, an update can schedule a process via bash to start at every reboot. That process can then be used to spy on you 24/7 and you will never know about it. "what backdoor?"
>>
I use windows 10 as my primary OS. There is definitely some shady shit that goes down with it and it clearly sends quite a bit of data to microsoft regularly.

For instance, every time I watch porn I clear my computer with CCleaner. Every single time I do though I get a message saying that Internet Explorer (not even edge) is open and I force close it. And if I run the cleaner again after it already cleaned everything it still will say IE is open and it will even show that it is cleaning microsoft reports.

It does this every single time.

Honestly, I can't imagine tech-conscious people using Windows actually believe that it's not collecting data. You'd have to be stupid to believe you're getting W10 free - ain't no such thing as a free lunch. All these community-college level analytical techniques aren't going to find what Microsoft doesn't want you to find.

It all just comes down to whether or not the benefits / usability / familiarity you get from the Windows environment is worth sacrificing your privacy, and in some professions - mostly those that heavily utilize Adobe products or Excel - it probably is. It would be nice if those were available on lugnuts, but so as long as most people aren't concerned with what they are trading to use Windows, it won't be profitable for companies to put resources into developing cross-platform versions.
