http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-telemetry-secrets/

If you turn telemetry down to basic, it's impossible for you to ever be identified by the information gathered. Doing that and using a local account gives you total privacy on any edition of Windows 10.

Linuxcucks blown the fuck out.

It's telemetry. Read the article. The only time personal information might be included in telemetry is if you have telemetry turned up to Enhanced and you have a program crash with files with personal information in their file names.

>>54094840

Iceweasel sucks. I have used it on Debian.

Windows 10 users can have just as much privacy by pressing a few buttons.

>>54094845
>What if I want to jack off? Does Microshaft want to watch me jack off as well?

No. Unless you run some kind of pornogrpahic app that crashes while telemetry is on Enhanced, Microsoft will never know that you jack off to pornographic apps, and they won't get to watch.

Thats how the operating system gets better. Info is sent anonymously too devs and they know "hey this thing doesn't work" or "hey this applications keeps crashing and this is why"

With linux you have to post a log file to forum and the dev MIGHT see it. This is why frankly windows is leaving Linux (in terms of desktop OS) in the dust. Linux realies too heavily on the fact that the devs just dont give a shit.

Also, what proof is there also that linux doesn't do the same? Certainly not all distro's are innocent of this.

Actually forum bug reporting has not been a thing for years....

reportbug is a graphical application to report bugs under linux.

If an application is not working how it is supposed to i, and only ME should be able to report that bug. I can help the maintainer of the package by submitting information as i see fit. If the bug effects multiple users than those users can help with the bug. software should not run on my machine without my knowledge submitting information.

Privacy is a basic human right. It was not the os i was referring too.

I see, and I agree too anon.

I haven't really been using Linux in the past few years, I was rather happy with 8 and now 10. I'll admit that I wish Windows were a bit more a sensitive to privacy but if I really cared about the info they were grabbing from me I'd go back to Arch or Lubuntu.

Are you retarded? Did your mother beat your head in when you were in her womb?

technet.microsoft.com/itpro/windows/manage/disconnect-your-organization-from-microsoft#bkmk-moreutc

Here is the official documentation from Microshit. You can see that even on the lowest setting (which is available only in Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, and IoT Core editions), they collect:
>OS information
>device id
>device class

Then MSRT sends:
>device info
>IP address

Windows Defender sends:
>anti-malware signatures
>diagnostic information
>User Account Control settings
>Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) settings
>IP address

But of course if you're retarded then you'll just say none of that is personal information, and surely Microsoft wouldn't use that information for anything else then development as if you never heard of Microsoft sucking NSA cock which in turn shares all the information they have access to with Israel and others - and that is a FACT. And for some people it might not be problematic, but not everyone is that open about what they want to share with less than ethical organization.

And here's another thing, all the information they send to Microsoft is ENCRYPTED locally, so in reality you can't even see what they're sending. But hey don't let that stop you from shouting how Microsoft surely doesn't spy on you.

To be honest I'm not "too" worried. We all know why Microsoft does that: to improve their services, so basically you pay to use their service, so they can make more services you have to pay for. Reminder that Cortana, Kinect, Excel's Flashfill and Visual Studio Intellisense are almost entirely based on machine learning on collected data.

Still, even that isn't very honest, so I'll stick to Win7. And then, they only aim to provide more and more online services, and nothing offline, so Microsoft can pull the plug whenever they want: not only consumers are held by the balls, but they also keep all that technology to themselves: give me a proper Cortana framework to be used offline and I'll praise Microsoft, keep it all to yourself, providing only webservices to use it, and you can go fuck yourself.

I've rapidly lost all respect for Microsoft, and consequently have lost a great deal of interest in anything to do with their products. Microsoft's clumsy, desperate, visionless push to get PC users to adopt dumbed-down mobile-oriented apps purely for their own commercial benefit; the unrelentingly persistent, unethical, and highly deceptive way they're trying to trick less tech-savvy Windows 7 and 8.1 users into "upgrading" to Windows 10; and their insistence on reducing user choice and control over Windows have all left a very bad taste in my mouth. This is an inept company struggling for relevance in the mobile era by shamelessly abusing its monopoly on desktop operating systems, and I don't want to play any part in helping them do that.

That's not part of the telemetry data either. It's is own thing.

GNU people don't give a shit about "the year of the linux desktop". They care about free software and freedom in general, not market share.
Besides, Microsoft never had a good name. Especially since the Snowden leaks showed that they are part of PRISM.
>>
>>54101857
Virtual desktop support in windows is still clunky though. Nothing compared to gnome or mac os

Can I just block the UTC service? That should put an end to the telemetry, right?
>>
>>54102596
Sorry, your service sucks ass. I prefer to give my information to Microsoft.

Maybe the next time when i can know who you are and where you are located, and when you have a better reputation, and of course when you give me something better in change.
>>
>>54103625
Well you got nothing to hide from me, so you might as well give them away. Also I am willing to give you better and more personalised ads.

Why are you looking for my details? I said I prefer privacy.
>>
>>54103668
>Well you got nothing to hide from me, so you might as well give them away.
Because I am not happy how you will handle my data, your ToS is lame and your privacy policy doesn't specify what kind of data you will handle.

>Also I am willing to give you better and more personalised ads.
Not enough

>Why are you looking for my details?
Because I want to know who you are so I can sue you if you don't respect the agreement, you know, like any other organization I give my info

Microsoft is part of NSA's mass surveillance program "PRISM":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_(surveillance_program)

Microsoft informs the NSA about bugs before fixing them:
https://archive.is/OBGB1

Microsoft openly offeres cloud data to support PRISM:
https://archive.is/tW6fu

Microsoft has backdoored its disk encryption:
https://archive.is/2XIvX · https://archive.is/qLRZx

Windows snoops on the users' files, text input, voice input,
location, contacts, calendar records and web browsing history,
even after related settings are turned off:
https://archive.is/Zny36 · https://archive.is/sz1nt
https://archive.is/g3QdQ · https://archive.is/ko469

Windows 10 scans for illegal/pirated software:
https://archive.is/vhjwm
https://archive.is/2jehd

Microsoft proudly presents surveillance statistics:
https://archive.is/MB0Yy

> Over 82 billion photos viewed.
> Gamers spent over 4 billion hours playing PC games.
> 44.5 billion minutes/month spent in Microsoft Edge.
> Over 2.5 billion questions asked of Cortana since launch.
> Windows 10 now active on over 200 million devices.
>>
>>54094761
Then why the fuck those logs are encrypted?
>>
>>54094761
>If you turn telemetry down to basic, it's impossible for you to ever be identified by the information gathered.
>If you turn telemetry down it's impossible for you to be identified
>turn telemetry down
So you created a thread saying that you can be identified and the only way to stop it is not to get rid of spying but reduce it a little.

I don't think this ad will grant you any rupees, it's poorly worded and will scare people off.
>>
>>54103719
So you are trying to avoid me.

Nice hypocrisy there, if you don't have nothing to hide from me, why do you even care how I handle your data and what I do with your data?

And I'll say this again, I won't give you any details because I respect my privacy.

Just give it away, don't talk your way out of it
>>
>>54104045
Because I will never give my data to an organization I don't trust and that I won't get nothing for doing it.

I don't trust you and you give me nothing interesting.

That's how it works, that's the reason people use services from companies like Microsoft or Facebook. So if you want to apply the example to me and you, that's how you should work before I give you my Facebook information.

It's that simple.
>>
>>54104092
>I will never give my data to an organization I don't trust
Well, I don't trust NSA. Why would I? I don't even live in the US.
It's only fair if you trust me
>>
>>54103892
Why not? You should know to encrypt everything nowadays, anon.
