Okay /g/. I'm 24 and have had a flip phone for years now. My mother who is around 67 now has just gotten herself her first smart phone and thinks her "smart" son knows everything about it.
Truth be told I hate touch screen devices and never used them before.
My problem is that she got a data plan which allows her to access the net for 2 days a month. (cheapest plan). I know tablets can connect to wifi to advoid using up date, can a samsung galaxy s7 do the same? If so, can someone please explain how?

Since smartphone UI:s have no hierarchy or logical order whatsoever the best way to guess where something is or how something is done is to ask yourself this simple question: "If I was a complete idiot, where would I place that function?" Smartphones are overrated. The most annoying aspect about them is that you have to "lock them" to prevent random dialing when it's in your pocket. Even then, emergency calls are still enabled, so you still have a chance of dialing emergency numbers accidentally. Battery life is low. You have to adjust many settings to optimize it. There's a reason why there are still a lot of people using flip phones or have both a flip phone and smartphone.

I'm in the same position, sort of. I've been using flip phones for a while and I just want a cheap smart phone that doesn't come with tons of bloatware and works with straight talk. I pretty much will entirely use it for whatsapp, sms, and clover
