Let's compile lists of good and bad reasons to use Linux:

Good Reasons to use Linux:

1. Your machine is too old to support current versions of Windows.
2. Your machine is to shitty to justify buying a Windows license for it.
3. You need Linux specific software.
4. You need Linux for work.

Bad Reasons to use Linux:

1. You're concerned about Microsoft "spying" on you though Windows 10.
2. You're concerned about the NSA spying on you through Windows.
3. You need to hide your child porn from the FBI.
4. You believe proprietary software is inherently evil.
5. You hate Microsoft for things that happened before you were born and want to stick it to them by running Linux on a shitbox in your mom's basement.
>>
>>54055472
Linux protects user privacy more than windows. There is no argument left on this
>>
>>54055502
That's covered under bad reasons 1 and 2.

GNOME has Facebook integration, so idk what you're talking about.
>>
>>54055523
Not by default. Also, you don't have to login to facebook app.

Privacy is a serious reason. Normal /biz/ cucks will never understand this

How is Linux more private than Windows?
>>
>>54055602
>How is Linux more private than Windows?
>>
VERY BAD REASONS:

1. "I don't need to reboot"
2. "No viruses"

Windows 10 enterprise EULA
>>54055630
First one is partially true
Second one is almost true
>>
>>54055654
That's if and only if you use a Microsoft account, not a local account. RedHat collects the same information for their distro. Telemetry data is anonymous, so I don't see your point.
>>
>>54055693
Red hat does not define Linux, also let me see some EULA

>Local account
So you admit microsoft steals user data of it's users and you have to use a fake local account to protect your privacy
>>
>>54055472
Op is a giant faggot pajeet windows shill. I hope the botnet deletes all your indian/musilm mp3s and bollywood movies.
>>
>>54055472
Well I guess four of my reasons are bad, why is hating MS a bad reason? You also missed the bit about having more control over your computer and a bunch of other stuff.

In the interests of fairness I shall now compile a list of good and bad reasons to use windows as I imagine a macfag would see it:
Good reasons to use windows:
1. Too poor to afford apple products.
2. Need winblows specific software for work.
3. Too stupid to wrap your head around something new.

bad reasons to use windows:
1. gaming
2. irrational hatred of apple and their products
3. notion that all apple users are faggots
4. dislike of better looking and more stable software.
>>
>>54055749
>see some EULA
Go read it on their website. https://www.redhat.com/en

>So you admit microsoft steals user data of it's users and you have to use a fake local account to protect your privacy

No you tard. You voluntarily give them that data when you use your Microsoft account. The telemetry data is a separate matter, and it's anonymous.

You are so paranoid that you don't even understand what's being collected.

>more control over your computer

Other than modifying the source code, what additional controls does Linux give you? Most users never touch the kernel or userland source code so I don't see why this is a good reason.
>>
>>54055817
>https://www.redhat.com/en
Nothing special there
I wonder how many people here actually use RHEL, furthermore you can turn feed back off and the feedback module is open source

Also I like how you shift the topic of windows being private to people being paranoid for basic privacy

You tried hard, OP
>>
>>54055860
>furthermore you can turn feed back off

You can do that on Windows 10 too.

>>

So what? That doesn't change the fact that it can be disabled.
>>
>>54055931
"disabled"
>>
>>54055833
Update your kernel, it's strongly recommended.

Did you restart every process using any of the libs that you may have received security updates for?
>>
>>54055931
Doesn't also change the fact that it cannot be completely disabled and you don't even know for sure
End of argument right here

Very good reason to use Linux instead of Winshit if you are an adult person.

I like GNU/Linux as operating system. It's useful for my daily tasks and works fine. I think they are enough reasons for stay on GNU/Linux.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Don't have a reason really. I don't care at all about the "botnet" or proprietary software.

not interested in that, I'll let FBI use my hardware/bandwithd anytime to catch them tho

not really, I believe at some profit point they should make it open to benefit humankind (but probably debuging security, mostly are shitty)

You can check with a router to see if its completely disabled.

basic utilities you find on linux you can only get on windows by programming it yourself, or downloading some random program online.

We need to start a meme about something ridiculous being key feature to our preference of Linux over Windows.

Then Windows will try to Embrace, Extend, Extinguish it by bloating up Windows even more and make fools out of themselves.

We trolled them into installing Linux on Windows already, and nobody's switched because of it.

We almost made Microsoft install Gentoo, you guys! lol
