Red Hat, CentOs and Debian...maybe Opensuse.
TrueOS
>>54055106
Linux of course. There is a reason all important shit is run on them. The only real question is what distro?
For Linux, RHEL.
Windows, Windows server 2008
For UNIX, NetBSD
All around? RHEL and Windows server 2008 for managing Windows machines.
Solaris used to be chill but I thought Oracle killed it?
>>54055106
I'll probably be ridiculed, but, Ubuntu Server is pretty decent.
not OpenBSD?
I thought that was the best..
redpill me, gee
Ubuntu Server. Debian breaks when upgrading.
Illumos of course

illumos if you like sysV.

CentOS/RHEL or openSUSE, SLES or *BSD
CentOS/RHEL because they're stable and because they have the webinterface Cockpit and DNF
openSUSE (not Tumbleweed) because YaST and it's stable enough while not beeing outdated
SLES because YaST and stable
*BSD because everyone says they're good for servers
Pic related, it's the mascot of (open)SUSE
i use slackware as my gopher server.
Bash it into shape and it stays that way.
For my slack binary repository i use plan9 on raspberry pi's (file and authentication servers) with a dedicated cpu server
TempleOS
Ubuntu or RHEL, depends on how important the server is.
Trisquel + nginx
anything else is degenerate

Ubuntu is best in my experience
>>54055350
Main idea it's because is free and you don't have to pay a license to someone, but that doesn't make your server won't be as stable and run as smooth on a windows server platform.
>>54062578
>implying that's not a JIDF operative
I really feel like Windows Server is going to be the best solution for nearly all use cases within the next few years.
There is no best OS. It all depends on your needs.
MacOSX with the server software packages. Best $20 dollars i've ever spent.
Ubuntu. 100% free and the best tools.
>>54063666
And not as stable as a good distribution
>>54055555

Windows, of course. LOL, who doesn't use Windows.
>>54059537
>best SERVER OS
>posts TempleOS instead
I kinda wish TempleOS had networking stuff but it won't happen, God's will I guess...
>>54071999
It doesn't need networking to be a good server, we're all supposed to meet at God's temple anyway so there's no need for the OS to reach out to us. We can all just line up and take turn for our service/sacrament like we do for every other one.
God bless.
please just stop breathing if you do not use gen fucking too.
Slackware or bust
>>54055261
I like you, but why opensuse? (legit question)
>>54055156
Thread should have ended here.
CentOS or Ubuntu Server
It's been proven over and over again for several years in a row that UBUNTU is the best.
Why even have a thread like this with idiots who don't even have a job responding?
>>54077402
you talk about people having a job, and fail to mention 2012 r2?
do you want to know what is happening and make specific shit run on your specific hd?
yes? build a new OS or modify / add some linux (there isn't many options available for servers)
no? anything will do
