If you're too stupid to figure out how to permanently get rid of GWX, you should probably just swallow the big MS load and install it already.

bros, why is windows 10 so hated and what are the pros and cons of installing 10? i would really like to know.
>>
>>54055238
Pros
>just weeks (usually)
>easy upgrade since you're probably on windows already
>familiar interface and functions
Cons
>proprietary (not libre)
>telemetry (privacy-invasive, some things can't be disabled lest you block everything from your router)

Other than that, use a search engine and decide for yourself. You're only going to get bias and memes here.

How does describing what it collects "debunk" the fact that it collects it?
>>
>>54055403
how can this affect me?
>>
>>54055403
Why does microsoft need all this telemetry? Countless amounts of other computers with windows have worked without such phoning home.

I don't have too much of grip with the forced automatic updates. I know that it is a hinderance for technologically adept people and companies but its is necessary so that the common person stays update to with new features and security patches. Herd immunity in a way.

That being said I tried windows 10 for like week when it first came out and reloaded 8.1 Pro (got it for $10). It looked weird at the time and didn't like how it tied everything to my microsoft account.

>>

Probably getting paid bug bucks from the NSA to keylog the fuck out of everyone. They don't need a warrant or any probable cause if you sign away your rights in the windows 10 EULA. People should be boycotting windows 10 but instead they just mindlessly use it because they are idiots who can't live without their vidya and other gay normie shit.

I blame teddy roosevelt and his big stick policies in Latin America have created a false perception in American politicians' minds that the Constitution has jurisdiction everywhere (although it's ironic given how much these people break the laws laid out in that document).

Imperialism and federalism are some of the biggest mistakes we have done. Although they have helped pave the way for corporatism to spread following WWII and the end of colonialism.

Windows is so fucking terrible idk how anyone uses it as a daily driver. I had to use windows 7 today and all these pop-ups about norton security updates and all this other bullshit bugging my ass like a needy bitch and the UI just fucking sucks ass overall. os x ui is so much better. I run linux as my main os and i can see why normies wouldn't be able to handle it but why do they run windows over os x? Os x is such a better normie os.

then what kind of profit could they get out from this other than my tentacle rape hentai folder?

>>
>>54053707
>drinking the Kool-Aid
>>
>>54055746
They use windows because of Microsoft's aggressive marketing and anti-competitive tactics from the 80s and 90s. As a result many people don't even know what another OS is. When you say computer to them, windows is inclusive of the hardware in that mental picture. As such when faced with new OSes they don't know how to handle them or write them off as doing things wrong. Many of my friends have visible cognitive dissonance when I see them just try to print something from my computer (since they didn't have a printer in their dorm room). They get pissy like women and most times make me do the whole process.

I am in your boat though. I love OS X and have been using apple products since system VII.

I'm glad though that microsoft's grasp on the computer world is fading. Although that doesn't mean that the year of the linux desktop will ever occur. In all likelihood, mobile devices are going to replace many people's computers for many practical applications. It's already common place in asian countries. Most people here probably have an old computer that still has XP but they don't use it since it is filled with viruses and runs slow. Hence they use their android or apple device. Every day people use paper less and less than before. If they need something printed they go to their school, use their work's printers or send it straight from their phone. I don't see many people using desktops at home anymore, but at the very least a laptop (from the windows 7 era and when they were in school).

Disables the notification. You can also achieve this through GPedit, given that your Windows 7 is up to date.

Is it a fake windows or wtf?
>>
>>54056315
I run win7 ultimate as well. You just have to keep 3035583 off the machine.

It got by one of my windows machines and the stupid icon showed up, but uninstalling the update removed it.

And if manually looking at updates before you install them is too hard, you just set the registry keys and call it a day.

Just a headsup, kikerosoft has fucked up the windows 7 update process on purpose during the last couple weeks completely to get people to switch to win 10. The update process won't load up anymore and cause your CPU to go crazy all over the place.

I have confirmed this theory by reproducing it on three vastly differing machines so far, all running windows 7. It starts with windows updates turning itself off and when you try turning it on again the aforementioned CPU/performance issues will start immediately.

At first i thought the only one who was having this but if you check the forums you will see people are having this problem everywhere and just now starting to realize it.

You can still check for and get updates for windows 7 for the time being (till the extended support ends in 2020 that is) but this involves using an external tool such as AutoPatcher or PortableUpdate. Maybe if we're real lucky someone will find a fix for this though before that so that the update agends works normally again.
