Yeah e-readers are dead. What I did was buy a phablet to use as an e-reader.

it's not like people were complaining about battery life anyway, when you can charge for two hours and use it for a week or more there's really nothing to complain about. at some point one week of batter like or two or 5 doesn't really maka a difference.
>>
>>54020284
>so ... why not just buy a battery pack and save money?
You don't even need one desu, I charge my paperwhite like once a month and never have to worry about the battery.
>>
Another generation and there is still no reason to upgrade from my Kindle 4
>>
>>54020307
you wouldn't want this but having backlighting and a touch screen is worth upgrading to a paperwhite imo, 2nd or 3rd gen
>>
>>54020253
That's great. I read perfectly fine with e-ink and don't configure anything. Keep getting butthurt about what other people buy.
>>
I'm still very satisfied with my Paperwhite 2, and I bought that Christmas 2014. Probably won't buy a new one until it breaks or something

What? Paperbacks are about the same size. There's no way you are reading books bigger than the kindle with one hand easily unless it's a magazine.
>>
>>54020429
Just because you use a shitty cheap phone screen doesn't mean we all do.

I gaurentee my 5.7" AMOLED 2560x1440p phone display is better than any ereader. Battery life is obviously far less, but I have my phone with me everywhere, I also charge it daily.

No, they're not. The smallest paperbacks are 6.5-7" x 4.5". Regular hardcovers are 8-9" x 6".
The kindles are 4.8" x 3.5".
>>

why is this so hard? why the fuck do you suddenly need stupid features and an unreasonably thin device? my old ass kindle is already uncomfortable to hold without a thick leather cover.

What's the point when tablets exist? E-ink screens are thin and flexible like oleds, why not combine the two? $270 for something that can only read books is an absolute rip off, where the fuck are the color screens we saw 5 years ago? Imagine what you could do with a good 8" reader. Much better PDF support, more text on the screen, larger fonts without wasting space, don't have to move pages as often etc.
8" screen is about the size of a regular mass market paperback. 6" is not even pocketbook size.

they're never gonna make a better reader than paperwhite. their insistence on coming up with new shitty designs (first voyage and now this) is funny to me.
specially this one, they advertise the asymmetrical design and how it's comfy to hold in one hand and then include a cover that takes that poiny away.

Which ereaders are the best out there?

I considered a Kindle, but then I noticed I couldn't even get one in my country without jumping through hoops, and then I started to see the big bezels and the stuff with Amazons own ebook format or whatever.

I was looking at the Kobo Glo HD since it seemed better in every way than the Kindle, not to mention I don't have to pay extra to not have ads on there.

I doubt I would be buying that many books since this would mainly be used to read stuff that I haven't tried before etc.

The Kobo seems good at what it does, and I doubt there are a lot of features that one would need, after all, I'm just reading a book, but a bigger screen would be fairly nice.
