People throw out the wildest shit. I found an AM3 board with a Phenom II x4 965 in the recycling bin at work. Sadly the board does not support AM3+ CPUs, but it does support Phenom II X6. My coworker found a system with an i7 3770k once as well.

If you only want productivity, 2 different monitors are fine, or even a good thing, if you use a quality ips for color accurate stuff like art and another one for general shit and don't need to spend the money to buy another expensive one to match. But for dual monitor gaymen, it's essential to have a matched set

Software developer here. My 2nd monitor was a waste of money. It just sits there unused most of the time. It's unnecessary if you have decent window management skills and a modicum of short term memory.
