Who here not upgrading their PC until 2020?

Phenom II X2 and Radeon HD 5770

I laugh at faggots "upgrading" every year
Then I laugh at turbo faggots for buying Jewtel and Jewidia. Literally hardware illiterates

Why do you hate Intel and Nvidia so much?

Read a little what the companies do, just to achieve monopoly. Nvidia is worse, but Intel doesn't fall too far behind. AMD is the only one actually playing nice.

>>

Probably not going to actually be upgrading to Zen though, knowing AMD.
>>
>>54015044
Kek, ssd's are cheap though, why not run your os and apps on a 128gb ssd for like $70

>>
>>54015070

>>
>>54014991
>>54015014
5960X is probably one of the most futureproof purchases you can make, and that's amazing considering it's already 1.5 years old. Broadwell-E octacore will be just as expensive and probably not any faster, and mainstream CPUs will stay at 4 cores for many years. Maybe in 2018-2019 there will be octacores at the same price as hexacores now, but they still won't be any better than the 5960X.
>>
I haven't upgraded since 2006 so I'll actually be upgrading this year by necessity
>>
Phenom X6 1100t and 6870 2GB

still going strong after nearly 6 years.
>>
>>54015070
>Better performance per core
Not really, and almost all software is now multithreaded, even vidya gayms because consoles have 8 core AMD CPUs with pathetic single thread performance.
>>
>>54015143
I had a similar line of thinking, but saved $600 by buying an i7-5820k >>54014818

The overclock potential doesn't quite match the x but for any actual application (heavy 3d rendering and processing financial data) is not going to be bottlenecked by the processor until NVIDIA drops it's new architecture in like 3-4 years, once it cools down I'm upgrading.
>>
>>54015122
If the cooler isn't an issue why even bring it up?
Are you retarded?
>>
>>54015182
Most games utilize the processing power of 2 cores over 8 threads from a 4 core processor, unless you need 8 cores (16 hypothetical threads) the x is a big waste, better to put some of that money into memory options and a gpu
>>
>>54015225
going X99 and then getting the model with gimped PCI-E lanes just seems like a waste though
>>
>>54015228
I implied that the skylake will be more efficient, and therefore cooler, you took a dig at that statement.

>>54015107
>stays cooler
>Are you implying I'll be using the stock cooler?

I pointed out it doesn't come with a fucking stock cooler.

For a wallet warrior you've held off on screen capping your stats... hmm
>>
>>54015294
The 5820k only operates with 28 lanes, still enough to sli two gtx 980 ti's and have a pcie ssd running.

It's not the best money can buy, but it's an extremely fucntional professional grade workstation, and one I could afford.

Why upgrade when my gtx 670 achieves maximum utilization without flexing a muscle
>>
>>54016288
Why not an i7 2600k or 2700k?
It'll be a pretty decent upgrade, just not as much as a 3770k.
>>
>>54016299
I've actually got a spare 2700k that I could use. But I've heard that an OC'd 3770k gives only 10% less performance than a 6700k at the same OC. Aside from that though I'm trying to decide on a decent 1440p freesync monitor. Thinking of the ASUS MG279Q.

To be honest I don't need to upgrade at all but I just feel like it.
>>
>>54016287
>Cheaper than 980 ti, close performance, better crossfire scaling, better low level API performance(dx12/vulkan/mantle)
Same reasons I got mine. Although only one for now since I'm only using one 1440p 16:9 screen. They're great cards. What monitor are you using semi-richfag?
>>
>>54016361
I'm using a crt.
This thing does 2048x1536@65hz, or 1600x1200 at 80hz.

I am considering 3 1440p screens though, since the furies will be great for driving higher resolutions.

Most monitors I've seen look too bright or washed out compared to my crt but new ips displays look alright
>>
>>54014191
Maybe, but I'll be getting a new gpu somewhere along the line in any case.
>>
>>54016471
That's a slightly higher pixel count than a 4k screen and I don't know if freesync works across multiple monitor setups. But it should look great anyway. If I do eventually go cf fury's I'd probably get a 21:9 QHD freesync monitor. Like the freesync version of the ASUS PG348Q if it ever comes out.
>>
>>54016570
In your case, one should last a while until they start dropping in price. In a couple of years you could pick them up for under a hundred dollars, like the 7950 is now. I was amazed when helping my poorfag friend build his pc.

Got him an i5 2400 + 7950 for under 300 dollars.
