For some reason I have wanted this watch since months ago and finally bought it.

Same here.
Was debating if i should but it for a couple of months but finally did.

Hey ninefag, you forgot your trip.

I like omega though (I also have a blue mako), the crystal is nice, it was cheap, I like the face and I like feeling superior by wearing an automatic.

Anyone familiar with the nixie tube watches by Cathode Corner? They're quite a bit out of my price range, however does anyone know of someone that makes a watch in general with nixie tubes for a lower price? Or am I going to have to suck it up and pay full price?

To try to answer your question in a helpfull matter:
If you won the lottery: De Bethune
If you have some money: Peter Speake-Marin
If you are kinda poor: Ochs Und Junior
>>54012233
I'd go for a custom Voutilainen if I won the lottery, but if it was in my taste Speake Martins higher end stuff would be neat too. Not much into paying Rolex prices for a Soprod A-10 though.

>>54013014
The thing that annoys me off about this graphic is that it doesn't completely reveal just how massive Seiko is. It quotes the number of people employed by the entire Swatch group, but Seiko-Epson (ie, Suwa Seikosha) alone employs like 70,000 people. Seiko Instruments is another 14,000. Then you have the 13,000 at Seiko Holdings and all the little companies held by either Suwa, Daini or the Holdco.
Imagine if everything had gone according to Keikaku in the 1980s, and both Omega and Tissot were part of this family.
>>54013171
Swatch makes and sells wristwatches as, more or less, their entire business model. If you had a total number of employees listed under seiko, you'd want to include a percentage of them have any relevant input to watches, because the other employees are making printers and robots and projectors and shit.
Any brands with vintage dress watches that have lots of black or white Dials with Silver casings?
Most of the russian ones seem to have Gold casings which does not work for me.
>>54013527
Lots of them. Especially if you'll count cream as white, because cream is traditional with dress watches and vintage has patina often
>>54013171
>Japan
>anything ever going according to Keikaku
>>54013527
Omega Semenmasters with black dials and stainless cases are pretty common. Not as common as white dials or gold cases, but pretty common.
Please don't refer to stainless as "silver" it triggers my autism. Silver is a shit metal to make a watch out of and nobody has used it for like 100 years. Silver-colored watches are stainless steel 99% of the time and the rest of the time they are either chromed brass, titanium, platinum, or tantalum. But never silver.

The only watches I own are both from the time expedition series. Ones a metal field watch and the other is some type of chronograph.
I like both, indiglo is pretty neat and they're durable like most timex.com watches.
I dislike the expedition logo being plastered all over the watch but it's not a huge deal. Either I don't know how to use the chronometer or its broken because one of the side buttons doesn't do anything.
, I'm also unsure what the rotating band around the face is suppose to be for, I just set up the red arrow so I can get a rough estimate of how much time I have left.
the chronograph cuts into my wrist sometimes when doing field work but I wear them on the inside of my wrist.
I'm not sure why I just wrote such a shitty review. Both are special to me and worth the price. The chronograph one I wear a pt because my parents gave it to me when I moved out but it feels too bulky most of the time.
>>54014219
This is equally parts autistic, depressive and disturbing.
>>54014219
Dont listen to faggots like>>54014606 Anon, your watches are your own friend. Unlike autistic weeaboos that cum over superlative memes and phalic logos on japanese watches, they just dont matter. That's the first Citizen I've ever seen that didn't make me want to slap the owner.
It could use a dash of color on the dial for some contrast though. Even if it were just the tip of the second hand. Also wish the date numerals were color-matched to the rest of the numbers.

Get the less crowded version. Also if you don't care for automatics and want one only for the style, they have a quartz version of pic related. Here in yurop it costs only 200€, while the auto is 400€
>>54008595
The only reasons to dive with your watch are:
- diving in a backwater country where you don't want to entrust the boat captain with your watch
- cosplaying a 60's era diver
- wearing a Hublot to adjust your buoyancy
Otherwise you're just asking to damage your watch, on top of making it less comfortable to dive, because ideally, you'd want to have no gear at all so you're lighter and free to move.
>>54016125
And taking your ship out to sea is only asking to damage it. Real ships stay docked.
>>54016059
Is that yours? I've seen these Junkers watches in a store window and they looked good, but I've had a Zeppelin (same manufacturer as far as I know) handed over for a battery change a while ago and that wasn't that much impressed with the surfaces and detail.
Pic related, it was the black one.
>>54016059
>>54016496
What type of movments do they have, ETA?
>>54016526
Miyota and Ronda I believe. That Zep had a decent Ronda quartz movement.
>>54016592
How does Ronda compare to the ETA ones?
>>54016667
I don't know the current ETA quartz, but Ronda makes analog quartz movements from common unjeweled to gold plated with jeweled going train (4-5 jewels), Swiss made typically.
When I have to swap a busted chink three-hand movement in an old quartz watch I usually replace it with a basic Ronda or Miyota.
>>54016758
>When I have to swap a busted chink three-hand movement in an old quartz watch I usually replace it with a basic Ronda or Miyota.
Thats sounds interesting is that something you do with vintage franken watches?
Post watches + knives
>>54016777
More like watches that have a sentimental value to their owner, but are otherwise old chinkshit that was barely worth anything even when new. Also most of these have movements that can't be repaired, out of production, no spare parts, no technical documentation, etc.
>>54016843
I'm still hesitating whether I should get a black or Pepsi Seiko bezel for my blue Ministry. Seeing yours I'm (again) leaning toward black, have you regretted/got bored of yours yet?
>>54016943
I think that the black bezel fits better, blue+blue on the bezel is too much blue imo, especially if you want to use a blue nato like me and I'm not a fan of pepsi bezels btw.
>got bored of yours yet?
I just got this in the mail this morning honestly, got the whole watch with the bezel for just 56€ second hand but it's like brand new, no scratches at all. It even came with the sticker on its glas. It's keeping excellent time so far. I couldn't be more pleased and I'm sure I won't get bored of this combination.

Posting my updated collection. Show yours!!
>>54017267
I'm not big into the fat 70s style cases, but it's neat otherwise.
>>54017286
Still not updated.
Waiting on a Citizen promaster diver, the same Amphibia as yours but also a pepsi bezel.
Likely going to get an export version of a P3133 soon too, and might try to flip the Midas.
>>54017267
I agree with >>54017288, the case is odd and maybe too big but otherwise it's got a cool dial and hey, it's an Omega Seamaster.
I'm not sure about this, but being vintage it may use an in-house Omega movement, which adds more value imo. Do you have movement pics m8?
Just found out there's a new watch in the Presage line, the SARY055 with a 4R36 day-date movement. How does this movement compare to the just-date 6R15?
The 6R15 is despite not having that complication superior right? Because there's a price gap.
Guys, anyone knows about russian-watches.info?
Well actually I'm looking into Raketa 24H watches, but I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly is it they're selling.
I was under the impression all those models they're selling are vintage only, based on the fact I could only ever find them used on eBay, and that I never found any place selling brand new ones. Yet this one is.
So are they still being produced, in which case what is the best place to get one, or is it just used refurbished&serviced&polished vintage models passed as new?
>>54017648
That's such a pretty watch. Too bad about the availability.
>>54014965
Here's another shot. 10/10, would bite again
>>54017415
6r15 has a different alloy in the balance and main springs which gives it a better power reserve and more accuracy.
>>54017687
>refurbished&serviced
Mostly, or vintage pieces that are very very overpriced.
You can find similar vintage ones at 50~70% of the price that they are asking.
>>54017711

>>54016843
>>54017724
Not sure why you omitted the "polished", assuming the pictures are real, they look fucking brand new, which is what surprised me: no visible case/glass scratches and spotless dials.
But judging by watchuseek:
>If I remember correctly their eBay store was blacklisted by Raketa for selling fake/franken 24h watches.
>They even have some "military" German WWII Raketas that is at least outrageous.
No wonder they look brand new. Well then off to eBay I am, thanks.
>>54017850
They are good quality ones, the original buckles were a bit meh but i had a couple of good spares.
>>54018027
Pretty sure that polished, repainted reprinted can be included under the definition of refurbished.
But either way eBay is a better place to look in, and i think they opened another eBay store.

>>54017833
Pretty hard to go wrong with a 6R15. I mean yeah the basic plate is a modified 7S26, but it's so far ahead of the 7S26 in every other way that it's almost unrecognizable. About the only commonality is turning the crown upwards to move the hour hands forwards.

Just got myself a Timex Red Wing.
It's my second watch, my first being Casio MDV106.
I really like it, although I'm not entirely sure I'm ever gonna need a chronograph... or how to use it, for that matter.
>>54020213
What are the registers? 30 minutes and...
And the running seconds is on the bottom?
>>54020252
I have no fucking idea how anything chronograph related works. I'm that kind of pleb that buys things because they look cool.
Someone more knowledgeable than myself might be able to answer you.
>>54016843
I would not a blue opinel man
>>54020277
It's probably 10 hours.
Top button is start/pause, bottom is reset.
>>54020277
>>54020379
oh and you left it running for 10 minutes before taking that picture.
>>54020277
>>54020252
Normally on a chrono it's pretty easy to tell because watchmakers will leave clues to make it obvious. Normally all chronograph hands are one color, separate from the running hands.
But that doesn't look too be the case with your watch, Timex isn't great at this sort of thing. I'm going to guess the subdial at 10 is chronograph minutes, subdial at 2 is chrono hours, Central seconds is chronograph seconds, and running seconds at 6
>>54020277
But it's a real chrono, right? I mean the central hand seconds hand is the one for the stopwatch complication, and the bottom for the actual seconds?

>>54020414

>>54020414
hey 9gag, you would probably know this. why is the usual chrono minute register 30 minutes and not 60?
>>54020453
you can time 60 minutes on a normal watch fairly easily dingus
>>54020453
It's easier to read?
>>54017267
It's cool, I like a 70's watch. Plus it's pre-Swatch so it's proper Omega.
>>54019911
might be difficult to tell, but I should stay away from a 090 case, right?
>>54020453
Both certainly exist.
If you want to be able to read the exact time from the subdials you'd need 60 printed indicies in the minutes subdial and 12 printed indicies in the hour subdial. But that looks a little messy and is not super clear to read sometimes, so many would rather add half hour indicies to the hours subdial, bumping it to 24 marks, and only need 30 marks in the minute subdial. Little more clear, and an overall cleaner look on the dial (+12 on hours, -30 on minutes)
The Timex posted does that too, but seams to use a 10 hour subdial for who knows why
>>54018343
Thanks buddy, it is a beautiful watch.
>>54020517

Is this some kind of joke, bait or that's how Fossil used to be in the past. I'm curious.
Nice vintage chronograph by the way.

You misspelled 'tard' in your trip, faggot.
>>54024791
>not disabling trips and names
>>54024280
Yeah, it's not automatic. It's a handwound poljot p3133 movement. Well, zeppelin did some finetuning to it. The p3133 is a very solid russian soviet movement.
The automatic version would have cost me 1200€, that's a little too much for my wallet.
>>54024791
tart isn't part of my trip...
Also this >>54024836
I never realized how handy is have a manual widing in an automatic watch before. I don't have to jerk the watch like a retard if I have not use it in a while.
>>54024836
its better filter all name and trip fags
>>54024890
Personally I prefer manual wind only over automatic. I like not having a rotor, and the fact that the watch can be thinner.
>>54024976
This and the fact that some handwound watches are simpler, thus less maintenance and will last longer.
I don't have preferences, i even like quartz. For me it depends entirely on the price and overall how i like the look of a watch.

Today I got my first automatic a Seiko 5606 7000
1968
Thoughts opinions? Also how do I not break my watch? Apparently you can break it if you use the quickset between 20:00 and 01:00
>>54024906
FYI, lack of handwinding and/or hacking seconds is the hallmark of an extremely cheap automatic. Even the lowly Miyota 8200 has handwinding, and Seiko's old non-handwinding movements had hacking levers.
>>54024976
The best combination is automatic with hand-winding, but only in movements where hand-winding the watch doesn't gradually destroy the mainspring.
>>54025866
>56xx Seiko
Don't try to use the quickset between 09:00 and 03:00 indicated on thr watch.
Unfortunately, the quickset mechanism on that watch will likely eventually fail anyway as it uses a plastic gear in that movement that tends to shrink and crack from age rather than wear.
Assuming it works NOW, i would flip the watch and buy a 52xx Seiko instead.
>>54025866
>Seiko 56 caliber
Don't worry about breaking the date mechanism, it will break all on its own.
Classy watch otherwise.
>>54026099
Fuck me, that KS is in great shape. I want to join in on the 52xx party but I'm still waiting for the elusive blue dial LM Special.
>>54026099
>>54026118
I'll keep that in mind but so far I really like my LM and date isn't that important since I don't read Kanji. thanks

What's the difference between the F91W-1 and F-91W-1XY?
Also, what's the best cheap basic digital watch?
>>54025866
>>54026099
I've always loved the subtle color difference between the wheels on these 70s Seikos.
Looking through CheapestNatoStraps. The black and blue really is too light to match the lining on the Terrorist Casio? Navy Blue should be better, but no one seems to produce that scheme.
I guess I'll get the plain black one or something.
>>54026657
Casio looks pretty shit on aftermarket straps
>>54026673
Does it? I remember someone recommending me a NATO strap for it some time ago. But then again, he might have mentioned only the comfort instead of looks.
>>54026030
is that you fatso? your arm look a lit bit thinner
my Pebble Time Steel metal watchband broke like a week ago. Just fell apart as I took it off the charger for some reason. The pins started falling out. Got them back in eventually, realized the pins were just completely gone from the other half. Any place I can order them? For now I have switched back to my red leather band.
