It's Linux, not GNU/Linux. Why? For the same reason you don't append Microsoft to everything compiled in Visual Studio.

Yes. I use Fedora for everything, I do not dual boot. Steam works and has a lot of games, actually. I've been running GNU/Linux since 2004.

Try it and you might be surprised.

You should go back to Windows, faggot.
You obviously miss the whole point of using GNU/Linux.

I'm looking forward to it. The Unity updates look nice, and I'm glad they're getting rid of the commercial lenses and the software store. I didn't use them and I won't miss them.
I know unity gets a lot of flack but it's great DE that requires minimal configuration, which I like. I don't give two shits about ricing. I just want something that works and lets me play the few steam games I enjoy.

With the task bar o nthe bottom and tweaked a little it looks really really good, better than gnome even, maybe. Used to prefer gnome untill 16.04 now I think they are nearly even, maybe with unity ahead a little. I think unity is a little more productive bceause you don't have to press activities to do something. Those little tweaks really make all the difference desu senpai

>not using Alpine Linux

>Alpine Linux was designed with security in mind. The kernel is patched with grsecurity/PaX out of the box, and all userland binaries are compiled as Position Independent Executables (PIE) with stack smashing protection. These proactive security features prevent exploitation of entire classes of zero-day and other vulnerabilities.

I hate the windows 10 DE, but what I hate most about it is that I can't just switch to another one or make it behave like I want it to by customizing it. In xfce I could even change at which window sizes and space I want window snapping for example, Windows 10 in comparison doesn't even let me enable that feature properly. I am also missing always on top and better virtual desktop support (like the god tier one in gnome3).
Nice that it works for you though.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

It's about time that people wake up and choose freedom over convinience. The whole web is spying and with Windows 10, also operating systems. If MS did this 10 years ago, people would boycot MS. But nowadays people think spying is normal in the cyberspace, but it SHOULD NOT. People who nowadays unironically run windows 10 just support the death of cyberspace in general.

Sometimes you need to stand up and say no to stop people doing evil.

I use Gentoo and love it. Have a Windows drive still in my PC, just don't boot to it. Biggest restriction for me was games but with dx9 stuff playable in wine I have more games than I'll ever play. Stuff like skyrim, gta4, and sc2 are dated now but not enough to make me want to use Windows instead.

The Microsoft operating system only comes in one variety, the versions you get from Microsoft. Each version of windows comes with core utilities and a kernel built by that same company.

Linux can be done in many different ways, as can GNU. There is more than just GNU/Linux, as there is more than systemd + GNU/Linux. There is only one way to install Microsoft Windows.
