Kodi is dead.

Long live SPMC
>>

>Android oriented fork
Trash for anyone who isn't retarded
>Nvidia Shield main platform
Trash if you actually are buying into buzzwords like HDR, 4K and HDCP 2.0, chinkshit boxes are good enough if you're too casual for a real HTPC
>inb4 muh Netflix/Hulu/HBO
Into the ovens

Though, I haven't followed the dev drama, what happened?
>>
>>53960876

It's perfect on all Amlogic boxes like S805 and S905.

Kodi is Cancer on Android. SPMC, created by former Kodi Android maintainer, is the cure.

>Kodi is Cancer on Android. SPMC, created by former Kodi Android maintainer, is the cure.
Why?
There seems to be a lot of dev drama going on with anything related with Kodi, what's going on?
>>
I'm also looking for an antennae, I'll probably need one with a 60 mile range.

Here's a map for transmitter distances.

What's the trendiest Kodi hardware right now? I've been hearing Matricom G-Box Q.
>>
>>53961018

Nvidia Shield

Roku with a plex server is what I've got going on.

Free antennae on tax day

cheapest hardware? I have an old laptop, should I throw software on that?

>>53961278
I have one in my room because why not? I get maybe 10 channels, all HD

not very good channels, sure, but I'm not gonna complain for free tv

Interested in this, have the hardware but just have been utilizing the fuck out of my chromecast because it supports everything I use including plex.
>>
>>53960631

I just found out about Kodi a couple of weeks ago. Installed it and it's great. Except for the bizarre UI. The UI is frustrating.
>>
Chromecast and castnow with youtube-dl on GNU/Linux.
>>
Any good anime addons?
>>
>>53960631
I just use a T61 with Windows 8.1 on it with a logitech wireless keyboard/touchpad

Am I missing anything by not using other OSes? Also why is XBMC now Kodi?
>>
>>53962502
No, and it's a good thing since it'll make your mum proud to know that her adult son doesn't watch cartoons.
>>
>>53962514
>Am I missing anything by not using other OSes?
You're missing your freedom.

This and an antenna has been solid
>>

>Am I missing anything by not using other OSes?
OpenELEC runs better and makes it work pretty much like a appliance
>Also why is XBMC now Kodi?
They dropped support for the Xbox, there was little if anything related to the Xbox after that

You know what I meant, freetard
>>
>>53962514
XBMC is Kodi because Xbox Media Center was no longer really applicable to something most nerds are running on their spare boxes.
>>
>>53961018
>What's the trendiest Kodi hardware right now?

Nvidia Shield is the gold standard and also is being used to rip Netflix 4K.
>>
>>53962536
Is that one of those android chink boxes?
What is it running?
>>
>>53962547
It is, and it's running android lollipop.
>>
What would be a decent/cheap digital converter?
Didn't think to get one for free back when the gubament was giving out vouchers years ago, and I'd like to be able to watch junk up in the attic on an old piece of shit CRT which obviously doesn't support ATSC.
>>
>>53962543
That shit is over complicated.
So is it the little handheld thing or the set top box styled machine? I don't understand Nvidia and their inability to name things in a way that makes any fucking sense.
>>
>>53962536
Any DVR setup with your antenna?
>>
>>53962564
Set top box
>>
>>53962573
Not yet
>>
>>53962564
It's the box you retard.
>>
>>53962563
I would rather use an first gen Xbox with XBMC4Xbox, probably cheaper and good enough for SD CRT's, add that to some transcode server like Emby/Plex/wathever and you can watch your hi10p chink cartoons on a god tier CRT

Too bad. Anyone doing OTA DVR? I spent some dosh in 2006 with mythtv and tuners and ir blasters. I'm sure that's obsolete. The cheapest thing now seems to be the Tivo whole house system. OTA hidef in the U.S. is too good to pass up.
>>
>>53962653
It's pretty much kill nowadays, but you can do OTA DVR with a simple and cheap $5 chinkshit tuner and your favorite backend, like NextPVR or whatever
Probably all your stuff still works for doing it, you can get Live TV on pretty much anything with Emby, or at least they claim that, if your boxes can run Kodi then you can use that with NextPVR or another backend
MythTV is still alive, you might want to check it too
>>
Got exodus, any other addons that are worthy?
>>
>>53962791
I like pluto.tv, not sure if the addon is any good.
>>
>>53962802
Is that for live TV?
>>
>>53962791
TV Time
Live Mix
Phoenix
SALTS
>>

Any music ones to rec
>>
who /Emby+Kodi/ here?
>>
Decided to move to Win 10 on my HTPC. I'm running Kodi still, though I switched WMC to NextPVR, which was easier than I'd been led to expect. I'm not sure whether to bother moving to something like an Emby backend for Kodi, I almost always use the TV that the HTPC is attached to, so transcoding it and sharing it to other devices isn't that necessary.

>>53962564
SHIELD is a line of products you retard.

There's the Nvidia Shield Portable, the Nvidia Shield Tablet, and the Nvidia Shield TV.
>>
Best skins? I'm currently running Aeon Nox seeing as it's pretty simple and similar to Confluence except it can actually be customized properly.
>>
>>53962653
Using the PS3 Playtv on my mediaserver with tvheadend.
Pretty good dvb-t tuner for $30aud second hand, has dual tuners and centos 7 already had the firmware in the kernel.
>>
>>53962459
there are themes you know. You can change everything to your liking.

LITERALLY the only thing I wanted to do

I can't remember which ones I tried but they were all shittier than confluence
>>
Any guides on the correct/best setup for one of these.
