Welp, my shitty logitech PC speakers just died

Decided to invest a little bit more this time, right now I'm deciding between the maudio BX5s, mackie CR4s and the presonus eris 4.5

Anybody have any experiences with any of those?
No music editing / mixing happening, they're for listening purposes only

>reeeeeeee fuck off with your consumer tech
Implying this is any worse than yet another arch thread
>>
Basically all of that is pure garbage. What's your budget?
>>
Clinched to memes products, eeh >>53937753
>>
Eris 4.5 are glorious for the price.
Don't listen to the fag above me.
>>
>>53937849
250 I guess

Not an audiophile, also don't have the high quality audio sources to justify audiophile monitors

If it sounds better than my 50$ logitech 2.1 set it's good enough

JBL LSR305

its $260 for pair, they are active speakers
and celebrated to high heaven in audiophile community

Avoid M-Audio like the plague. Trash speakers.

>>53938507
I'm in the same boat as OP and narrowed it down to these or the 308's. Don't have much desk space, but I also probably won't add a sub later on.
How much difference in the bass is there between the two?
>>
>>53938507
seconded,

also try 2 find some good old HIFI speakers.

Here I have some 3 way TECHNICS from the 80s.

Cant tell as I dont own them I just know they are both recommended heavily and in their respective price category they are hard to beat
if you can fit 308 they will obviously be better
if you can fit 530 they will be even better...

>>53938624
yes of course
its not like we are in some category where everything sounds the same to normal person
audiophiles are like 10,000 speakers, not $260

JBLs are currently just very popular in this budget audiophile circles, which are exactly people like you and me, some music, some movies, some games, not really care in the world, just would like something nice

>>53938639
they definitely dont "need" it
later you can buy if you feel they would benefit from it
>>

*EDIT*

sorry I have read AMPLIFIER

SUBS are optional

my old ones have good lows

Alright I'm gonna shift some stuff around and (probably) fit the 308's in here.
What's a decent interface for them? Something small I can use to adjust the volume physically instead of software.
>>
>>53938780
well 8" woofer should blew you away, I am kinda eyeing them myself but I already sunk 300€ in my setup...

in one shop here in europe they are sold bundled with Nano Patch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jraG7YsMtmc

but I was always used to controling my volume by software

Alright, thanks anon, glad I asked here before pulling the trigger on one of my initial choices, those speakers really do have some good reviews going for them

dont get hang on that...
I actually focused on how they are ported heavily, bought monitor audio bx2
they come with these plugs that allows yo to "close" the ports
I tried listening for few months Ihave them with plugs and without
and I just could not tell if I like one or the other or if there was any real difference...

Elacs B6/B5 are power hungry
with lepai it would be difficult to drive them well without distortion even on middle volumes
would go at least smsl sa-160 and even what that I would not be sure
>>
>>53939056
Is there nothing cheaper than this? 50€ just to change the volume is quite a lot
>>
>>53937753

How old are they?

Logitech customer support is top fuckin notch.

They've replaced stuff for me for free that has been way out of warranty while letting me keep the original item.

eh, if you would watch him a while you would notice that he gets LOADS of stuff wrong

but the good thing is that he is out there making a claim...
if he makes a bad claim the comments on the video will be all over him with pitchforks and torches
and thats good enough, make a claim, see if it holds against the power of the internet,... move on...
>>
>>53938507
I just got these about 2 months ago and I love them. They get very loud.

I don't use them for mixing, just listening to music mostly. Very satisfied. Make sure you have a desk big enough for them, though.

I had some electrical interference from my computer when I first got them. Mild crackling/hissing when I wasn't playing anything through them. Then my audio interface arrived and cleaned up the audio signal perfectly. I'm using a Behringer UMC22 (like $40, compared to a Scarlett for like ~$120).

I know it sounds shilltastic but I just want to help someone out who seems like they were in the same position I was a few months ago. I was considering this, or the Yamaha monitors...I forget the model number.

OP here

Gonna go with the JBL 305s

Thanks /g/

Lachlanlikesathing is the most knowledgeable audiophile on YouTube, but he only does headphones.
>>
So if you those JBL's you have to buy two separate things just so you can use them with your computer and to adjust the volume?
>>
>>53939551
you buy 2x speaker
or a bundle, price should be a big hint
volume you give to some comfortable max levels and control it through your PC system volume...
>>
>>53939551
you can just adjust your volume in your operating system
>>
>>53939431
OP here again, want to make sure that I don't fuck this up

I know that there are different TRS jacks for different audio signals (line, instrument, whatever)

Does the same hold true for XLR? I've got a decent audio interface with symmetric XLR outs, do I need line-level XLR cables or will any kind just work?
>>
>>53939628
any will work
>>
>>53937878
Seconded, sound engineer here, tried shitloads of speakers but those really shine at this price, would go with a bigger model tho. (The Eris e8 is unbeatable, trust me)

Hope this doesn't end up disappointment me

>>

what the fuck why

Nigger I'm not going to spend an additional 150 bucks on an audio interface with symmetric outputs

reeeeeeee
>>
>>53939378

wtf did I just watch?
>>
I have a pair of CR3's and they're okay, but for deep bass they lack simply because they're small. And at certain lower frequencies they tend to be louder just because they have some bass helping design going on in the back of them. I paid 100 for them, absolutely phenomenal

Just get a nice pair of headphones for 250$

The price : quality ratio is infinitely better on headphones, you can get into actual audiophile territory with that, instead of just "ok" speakers
