Hey, guys, I've got a copy of Hiren's Boot CD, and I'm trying to disable a (different) computer temporarily, but not completely wipe the hard drive. Any suggestions?
>>
overwrite bootloader with grub

no one will understand what it is

Do something like >>53900541 or otherwise screw with the bootloader. The MBR tools in that picture lead me to believe that you could do something with that using that CD.
>>
How do I do that? Google's not being the most useful and I'm incompetent with most of Hirens
>>
>>53900526

Why not just fiddle with BIOS settings?

No need to do any real damage.
>>
>>53900601
I just need the computer to be unavailable for an hour. What BIOS settings could I change for that? Legitimately asking here. I normally fix computers, not break them.
>>
>>53900633
Open the case and disconnect the hard drive. Assuming its a normie's computer, it should spaz out about no boot device.
>>
>>53900633
remove the hdd from boot devices or >>53900716

So you fix computers, but don't know how to remove a boot entry?

build and minor repairs, yes. I'm an IT assistant at a High School. Trying to learn on the job, but I'm not a professional at all
>>
>>53900803
Holy fuck how did you even get the job?
>>
>>53900803

I could do this, but I'd prefer to not break this computer for good. I didn't know that would do the trick?
>>
>>53900825
Have you ever been inside a high school?
>>
>>53900834
just go into bios and set it to boot from cdrom only or something.
>>
>>53900803
this is an 18+ board
>>
>>53900842
You have a good point.
>>
>>53900880
right. I work at the high school, I don't attend it
>>
>>53900861
this is ok idea

if you can access pc physically, just pull the hdd cable from it and later return it back

or turn off power supply on the back of the pc
>>
OP if you tell us why we may be able to come up with something more suited.

That and im just curious really.
>>
>>53900900
Take creep shots and upload plz

theres nothing funny in this
>>
Seen this before and the reason why is

>sabotage the PC
>wait for them to freak out and for it to be something they wouldn't check because it normally isn't taken out (like the hard drive as suggested)
>wait for them to not be there and undo what you did
>"Oh I fixed it"
>you must be an IT god!
>>
>>53901071
not with that attitude
>>
>>53900996

you need to disable someone's pc....
as a 'tech' "assistant" .........
and can't just get their hardware that is not even theirs to begin with....................

for official school repairs...........................................................................

maybe you should attend assertiveness classes while you're looking up how to do things that 13 year olds actually know better than you, that way you can muster up the courage to tell a punk kid to gtfo hardware that is basically yours.
>>
>>53900526
open pc, unplug hdd power cable.
>>
>>53900568
what do you use currently?
