Sup /g/? So I got pic related from my cousin for free. Bench testing I hooked up power, generic pcie graphics card, random stick of generic ddr3, and an athlon ii x4 CPU.
I get the green standby power led, but if I hit the power switch or short the two pins, nothing happens. Nothing at all.
I've tried an athlon ii x4 630 and a 640. As well as an fx8350. Identical results. Nothing at all happens.
Any ideas?
And I forgot to mention, it's an Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 motherboard.

Try it without the GPU, and a different RAM module.

No change.
Here's what I have for setup.

Put a buzzer on it. Does it beep?
>>53889970
No beep whatsoever.
>>53890045
It broked.
>>53889859
first poo fans, now poo motherboards. fucking hell
Try it with nothing but the CPU and power connected, no RAM. It should constantly beep for a RAM error. If not, it's trash. Stick it on ebay as not working and someone will bite.

By most measures, the sabertooth is a fine motherboard. Albeit for a very dated chip architecture. But for free I can't complain. Even if it is completely broken.

No beep with no ram. Must be broked. My face is now sad.
If anyone else can think of anything, let me know.

He was referring to these,

Ah. The colors. Now I get it.

Whats with that stray power cable sticking up?
Try pulling the cmos battery? Push dem buttons, sempai. And why the fuck do you have it on a towel? But your cousin probably gave you a borked board.
>>53891874
Also, try switching the jumper.
>>53891874
Looks like the cable is for the 4-pin cpu power and the board has an 8-pin slot.
Do you know when it started to die, as in why he gave it to you?
You've checked everything else, only thing left that isn't mentioned is make sure there isn't any stray piece of metal in any of the slots. You won't be able to see it, disconnect the power and use compressed air.
By the way, if it's one of those "pro" boards, it won't come with any form of video out, you absolutely must have a graphics card or else you can't get any video.

>one of those "pro" boards

Oh, I see what they did there. That`s kind of a weird way to go about it. I`ve only ever seen them with a 4+4 configuration

It never worked for him. A friend if his shipped it to him. He tried plugging everything in and powering it on and nothing happened so he put it in a box and forgot about it. We got taking overclocking and I mentioned that I play with AMD chips so he gave be the board, said he could never get it to work, and I went on my merry way.
I'm rather familiar with the chipset. My main desktop uses a cross hair v. It was odd to me that it had no signs of life other than the standby light. Absolutely nothing happens when the power switch is pressed.
I scoured forums and Google for the last week and figured /g/ might have some input or some troubleshooting steps I missed.
