what is /g/'s preferred torrent client?

uTorrent 2.2.1

Transmission

I started using Transmission on my server just because it's the Linux client that I had heard of the most when I set up the server. It works fine, and now that I know how to configure it, I'll probably keep using it until I have a problem with it.

Before that on Windows, I used uTorrent until I grabbed an official installer that came packaged with malware-- I will never use uTorrent again. Then, I used qBittorrent, and I don't know what it's like now, but when I used it the memes were true, and then some; I had stalled torrents, shitty upload speeds, and it would completely lock up sometimes for no apparent reason. Then I used Transmission-Qt because I saw a link to it posted here. It worked great and had the features I wanted. Now there's an official version coming. Good stuff.

This, past 2 point whatever it got too clunky

rtorrent is the only correct answer here

>>53862210
Yep

Transmission. Free and fully featured. What's not to love?
>>
>>53862149
Same. It's a shame utorrent went the route of the jews. The current version is nothing but bloatware.

I'm subscribed to Spotify and Netflix. The wife is subscribed to Scribd. We still need to download things-- mostly TV shows-- because I refuse to pay for cable. I'm willing to pay reasonable prices for the content that I want, but I'm not going to go out of my way to give my money away when I can just go on the internet and get the stuff. Content providers are aware that consumers can do this... it's on them to create the infrastructure necessary for consumers to pay for the content. It's not our fault that the providers need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

On the upside, Adult Swim offers streaming service now. Although I'm not interested in their content and I think their pricing is insane, but at least it's there.
>>
>>53862300
But I am
I have amazon prime, I can watch all the shows I watch on prime instead of torrenting. I used to get movies by post but now my bluray stopped working.
Also prime/netflix are simply retarded because of drm

qBittorrent or deluge. Transmission just works though

Rtorrent

Deluge

>>53862865
I used qbittorrent

My issues were this

Large torrents (30gb+ usually) always -ALWAYS- give a fuck ton of IO errors, and i have to re-check the fucking torrent every 5 minutes till its done

3.3.4 just doesent work.

So went nuts to that and went back to transmission-qt with sonarr (thanks to an anon here that mentioned sonarr.)

qbittorrent just has so many problems, regardless of which version. I would be fine with this if they were fixing problems with each new rollout but they are doing the opposite

Bittornado.
>lightweight
>no frills (or ads)
>does what you actually need it to do without issue.

I did like utorrent for a bit, but then one day I installed it on a fresh os and it came with preloaded malware like another anon reported. So fuck them. I don't really see any need for all the extra shit, I just want it to download what I want, where I want, and when I tell it to.

There is a lightweight flag you can pass at compile time for transmission.

So much this. I don't get why /g/ recommends it. I swear it's only because of how similar it looks to uTorrent without being a resource hog like Deluge except Deluge is actually less buggy than qBittorrent.

rtorrent / rutorrent.
Does your torrent client even have this feature ?

How do you download without seeding? If I limit my upload while torrenting, even just a little bit. My download stops.

The seeding process is automatically terminated if it's public tracker and the download is finished.

i get this most of the time on public trackers

is it normal? i still get downloads but with most it's like i can try to download dozens of torrent and i have to keep retrying for days upon end and then end up giving up on a few. recently uploaded torrents work better i guess
>>
>>53872754
How many trackers do you have on the torrent? Sometimes there are peers on other random trackers so I'll load up a ton of trackers, hope there's 1 peer somewhere, and let DHT take care of it
>>

Yeah, it's normal.

I also use halite, it's good but I never see /g/ mention it :(
