Things can only be easily extended one way. In order for you to use disk space BEFORE your linux partition, you'll literally have to move everything backwards. It's not a simple extension, and It's not something I'd do.

There's no simple extension button like on Windows?
Use the GParted live CD, it will do the resize outside of your OS so it can do leftwards resizes.
