What cheap CHINK tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?

Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on eBay, AliExpress and similar sites.

Hi friends, the problem with most of the cheap Chinese plastic VR headsets is that they are used more for watching movies in the Chinese market so the FOV is low. Lower than Google Cardboard V2 even. I recently came across a mod where people put magnifying glasses in front of the lenses to increase the FOV. Anyone who owns a cheap Chinese plastic VR headset might be interested in trying this mod.

smartphones have standby time up to a month. unless you use the screen 100% of the time it'll outlast any mp3 player by 4~5x.

I've got a question about how they're able to have free shipping for everything. I'm under the impression that it works like this:

There are big containers being shipped worldwide from China everyday so pretty much all that needs to be done is that they toss your letter inside one, along with all the others. Then once it reaches the shores of your country, your local post office is REQUIRED (by Universal Postal Union regulations) to deliver all incoming international mail to your doorstep, regardless of how much it costs them. So by then, it's not the chink's problem - literally all they have to pay for is tossing your letter into the next container, then your local post is forced to handle the rest.

Does GearBest Netherlands Post take longer to ship to the US?
>>

no, China has trade agreements for fair postage (like ePacket) and because of exchange rates the profit from the product sales likely goes towards shipping. Also not everything is shipped via surface.

No chinkphone works on my current network, T-mobile, but I was wondering which networks, say, the Note 3 Pro does work on in the US.
>>
You yanks have it rough with your band licensing monopolies, how do they get away with it?
>>
>>53857208
For the billionth time I've said this in /csg/:

Either get the Redmi Note 2 if you don't have more than $150. Otherwise get the Redmi note 3 pro if you have $190.

The redmi note 3 is WORSE than the redmi note 3 pro. It doesn't even have a microSD slot and with a 16GB android phone that's a death sentence. The pro version looks identical but is actually usable because of the microSD.

Also, the snapdragon 650 is blazing fast and shits all over the snapdragon 801, 805, and even 808. It's completely worth it to pay the extra for the redmi note 3 pro over the redmi note 2.
>>
>>53857219
it just doesn't work on 4G
>>
>>53856952
That sounds good desu but would need some marketing since I wouldn't be selling something that's special.
>>
>>53857253
Then what's the point? I wouldn't want a top-shelf smartphone if I wasn't going to consume some sort of media outside of my home, and that's an awful experience on 3G. I'm not looking for a phone that doesn't work on 4G.

This is just for reference's sake, since I have a Zenfone 2 now and have no plans to let it go for at least another year. I made the mistake of getting the 2GB version, though.

You'll have to look for American/US band versions of phones, like Elephone has the P9000 and P9000 Lite supposedly coming with US bands (CDMA 1/2/4/5, LTE 2/4/7/17). They released the P8000 with this already.

Otherwise the only carriers you can use a chinese phone on would be pic related. US is terrible for phone services. This month they're even locking pre-paid plan phones for 12-months before using it on another carrier.

you can get the free 1.6gb plan RIGHT NOW if you pay $15 or $25, don't remember how much.

If you want the better plans for free you'll have wait for a flash deal.

alternatively pay $100 to join their their member+, which allows you to switch to any available plan.

i paid $40 total for 2 plans with over 6.5gb of data.

so it charges initial $25, messaging/usage eats away by the cents until it hits zero, then charges $25 again? but it will only charge a maximum of once a month?

$25 is there for insurance.

pay $25, get $25 credit in your account.

limit your data cap to 1.5gb each month
never pay anything.
If you fuck up and go over 1.6gb it'll deduct the money from that $25
If you fuck up enough times it'll automatically top up another $25.

Ok thanks, pretty slow 4K writes but it doesn't really matter if you're not torrenting directly on sd or using it as system drive on older phones.

It's on pair with Kingston.

Don't look at seq read/write since I've done test for this and Samsung card on old Toughbook which has very slow card reader.

Yeah it would work with 4g because telus is now using 2600mhz for 4g which redmi note 3 pro supports. But i read that it's only limited to the gta.

I'm using it in a redneck shit town in BC.

It's over Samsung S6 edge(63000 vs 76000 antutu points) and under Samsung S7(~140000 antutu points).

>>53859226
Yes, that's the right ROM, with the google botnet instead of the chink botnet.

GearBest somehow loads their own ROM with miui 7.8 or something like that. I spent the day restoring it through recovery to the latest global ROM.
>>
There's a phone app called Geek that has a bunch of mass produced chinktools for hilariously cheap. Got like six or seven useful things for a total of like 20 bucks. I got an HDMI cable for 1.99 and the difference between that and my main cable is almost unnoticeable.
>>
>>53859322
That's because HDMI is digital and is not subject to signal degradation.
>>
That gearbest ROM, do we know what's different?
>>
>>53859334
It has Google Play Store along with a few chink apps. I tried removing it as soon as possible. If you look at the previous thread you'll see the about screenshot with the miui version
>>
>>53859334
It has adware/ pop-ups to install random apps I think.
>>
>>53859322
>the difference between that and my main cable is almost unnoticeable

There is no difference in terms of signal, it is either working or it isn't.

Back when we only used analogue signals there WAS a purpose to expensive specially treated gold plated C02 injected cables but as soon as you use a digital signal instead then it doesn't matter in the slightest.

The only difference is build quality, if your $1 chink HDMI is working then you gain absolutely NOTHING from buying any other HDMI cable, no matter what they claim.
>>
>>53859333
In that case why do people buy gold plated HDMI cables for hundreds of dollars? Never understood gamer logic

I gotta look into these android TV boxes more. We cut the cable here over a year ago and got an unlimited Internet package. I guess it's the whole channel thing I don't quite understand. You get the box and download the I.e., HBO app? Or you first have to download the roku app and load channels through roku? Can I pay for some channels to get better stream or no? I also have my "blockbuster" hdds that I know I can set up to stream via wireless with these things so I know I will get one eventually.

Tl;Dr, redpill me on Android boxes.

Have question for anons from europe.

Does anyone have experience with Chinese fake euro post services slike "swiss post" and such. Most of the time such packages slip through customs office in this shithole since they look like they originate from europe and not China.

Problems is that those services are used randomly by Chinese sellers, is there a way to specify that you want such service to be used on Aliexpress or dx/banggood?

Any other tips for slipping packages through EU customs?
