/g/, I need your input. This is a project I'll probably never actually work on much less complete, but I'd like to flesh it out a little bit.
What info would you want to be accurately presented in a big-budget hacker movie?
Think a combination of the Albert Gonzalez story with some Ross Ulbricht thrown in on the side.
I like my sister
Id like to see a story following one of the real weirdos who take over webcams, or steal credit card info on the side to support themselves
wait till ross ulbricht's diary is released to the public and make a movie out of that

Well, for a start, I'd like to see something where hacking isn't portrayed as "man this firewall's tough, I have to hack harder", "they're hacking us, we need to push back", and such bullshit. Or glancing around the room for a clue to what the password is.
I want to see, without getting too bogged down in details, a process of portscanning and other methods to figure out what kind of system it is, searching for known exploits and vulnerabilities, that sort of thing. A bit of realistic social engineering in there too; phoning someone to get the info they need to phone someone else pretending to be someone else to get a password reset or something.
And none of this flashy GUI "hacking in progress, 67%" bullshit either. Not saying don't use GUIs, just have it more grounded in reality. Or if you absolutely must go the flashy GUI route, at least have the characters lampshade it with dialogue like "what's with the stupid interface?" "makes me feel like a cool movie hacker, rather than a loser with a handful of scripts".
