Let's not forget that the mediatek chips are more efficient, offer better battery life and run cooler than the snapdragon chips while also costing significantly less.
>>
Reminder that the heliox10 can be had for a cheap as a hundred dollars in the redmi note 2 while phone companies are charging 600 dollars for devices with the overheating and inefficient snapdragon 810.
>>
They've also fixed the gps issue if that's holding you back.

>No root
Nice joke of a processor
>>

Source?
Because a lot of Chinese companies using mediatek SoCs let you root.
>>
What does it mean when they are closed source? Botnet? No optimization?

They're getting into open source actually.
Not quite all the way there but it's a nice start.

They arent closed source. I dont get from where this mediatek is closed source meme comes. They sell their source for money, together with the program itself, which is perfectly fine by the gpl. The manufacturers are whom to blame because they should give you the source to you too with your android.

Since when?

>>53850172
Holy shit they've stepped their game up since I last saw their devices.
I remember shitty fakes with cheap mediatek chips that were horrible to use but now they're one of the leaders in SoC performance?
Fuck, I want one. Once my g3 dies I'm definitely having a look at a Chinese phone.

Anything above snap800 feels the same if you don't play games
>>
>>53851813
People actually use their phones for games?

Single core performance isn't really important for Android devices since its a platform built to take advantage of more cores.
>>
>>53852027
Now i'm certain you're a troll
>>
>>53852039
Your response is just bait.
Chrome on android takes advantage of 4 cores, the OS is efficient in how it spreads the load across cores, and having more cores allows for smoother multitasking.
>>
>>53850172
Source where?
>>
>>53851813
That's true, but mediatek devices cost significantly less than their snapdragon counterparts.
