Let's not forget that the mediatek chips are more efficient, offer better battery life and run cooler than the snapdragon chips while also costing significantly less.
Reminder that the heliox10 can be had for a cheap as a hundred dollars in the redmi note 2 while phone companies are charging 600 dollars for devices with the overheating and inefficient snapdragon 810.
They've also fixed the gps issue if that's holding you back.

They arent closed source. I dont get from where this mediatek is closed source meme comes. They sell their source for money, together with the program itself, which is perfectly fine by the gpl. The manufacturers are whom to blame because they should give you the source to you too with your android.

Chrome on android takes advantage of 4 cores, the OS is efficient in how it spreads the load across cores, and having more cores allows for smoother multitasking.
