Winamp is good if you want something that just works and looks good by default, but it hasn't been updated since january 2014. It's supposedly still in active development, but it hasn't had a new release in a long time. It also has a shit ton of plugins if you want to extend its functionalities.
AIMP is basically the new Winamp. I haven't really used it but it seems just as good (or better, I don't really know), looks pretty slick, and is updated frequently. AIMP also has support for lots of plugins.
MusicBee is a really good music player that has powerful tagging tools, integrated Songkick and Soundcloud support, many plugins and also just works. I personally use it and I really like it.
Foobar2000, I think, is the most capable of all of these music players. It has the ultimate customizability, extensibility through tons of plugins, it is possible to rice it pretty hard and make it look really good (if you're into that) and it's also very lightweight. If you just want to have a program that just looks good and plays music (MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc.), then go for any of the other three, but if you want to have specific functionality and customizability, then Foobar is great for that. Just remember that getting it to look like, say, AIMP, is gonna take you some time.
