Should I buy a schiit stack? I want clean neutral usb audio out of PC devices for my headphones and powered monitors for around $300.

I never said anything about being an audiophile, just want something that doesn't color the sound or have a bunch of noise like onboard audio.
>>
>>53816083
You should have thought about the source before investing in all this audio equipment. It ultimately comes down to the source that you are using and the files you are playing. I would probably venture into something more professional from Schitt. 300 will probably get you an amp from them but not a DAC.
I made the mistake of buying a Schitt Stack when i first got my HD600s and i noticed nothing but hiss. Switching to some OFC cables fixed a little bit of the hiss but you still noticed it. You probably need a bigger system because you plan to use it with speakers and you will not have enough line outs.

I'm a cheapcunt and not a placebofuck, so I look around for the best bang for the buck
Already got Tascam TH-02's for full sized headphones, and a set of XBA-1's because they were really fucking cheap, going to get a Topping NX1 for the XBA's since my $1 chinkshit sound card can't power them at all
But I want to replace that shitty soundcard because it's pretty bad, what's the cheapest DAC that measures decently? I only need USB input, no high resolution nor anything

No, those where the NuForce guys, with their uDac-2
They where the ones that got rekt when people looked at their drivers when turning on/off their amps, they had this design defect that could easily kill headphones

I just bought an old JVC Receiver at a thrift store for $30.

JVC RX-703v

pic related. gets the job done.

Go for it. I had the original m+m stack for my hd650 and upgraded to a bifrost and an Asgard 2 so I could use my monitors through it as well, then they come out with the magni2 uber with the same features.

I love schiit products. They sound good, made in USA, look nice on my desk, power my entire sound system, and custom service writes back within 24 hours. Pretty sweet. Go for it

Even premium is shit 320kbps. Compare it to a CD from 10 years ago, it sounds like ass. When will they support lossless quality streaming?

Spotify uses OGG Vorbis which is superior to MP3. 128kbps OGG Vorbis sounds transparent.

then why doesnt it sound as good as a flac file or CD in a/b testing. Less detail in cymbals and the bass is less there in spotify. Even in comparison to tidal spotify premium doesnt sound as good.

no, besides you need a dac like the modi to go with it if you don't already have a source.

so pairing them with HD600 should be fine I'm only listening to some flac and spotify premium

There are a variety of options, schiit stack is fine if that is all you are looking for.

My Xonar Essence STX card also has good 1/4" and RCA output without noise. My onboard has fuckloads of noise.

It's not shit and it has nothing to do with the codecs used. There isn't an audible difference between 320kbps vorbis and lossless.

>>53822308
You have never done a codec listening test if you think there's a difference in bass kek. At least not a double blinded one and you can't even do one with potential differences in mastering from streaming services.

>>53822687
No you don't need a discrete DAC if you buy a headphone amplifier. What kind of retarded logic is that?

I blame the people who are using Windows and always bringing up video games here. Maybe they are from Reddit, and if so, I guess you're right, but I'm not sure how we'd determine that. As far as I'm concerned, a normie from Reddit and a normie fresh off the streets who came here first are both fucking faggots.
>>
>>53816083

a lot of studies show that the audio chip in your desktop is pretty much the same in capability as the audio chip in a stand-alone dac

the more detectable differences can be obtained with better headphones and better amplification for the headphones

If you want something that expensive and neutral, definitely go for some pro audio stuff, leave the hifi shit behind. Most of the 200$ range audio interfaces will get you perfect audio in most of the situations.

For your headphones, if they're high impedance then you might want to get an amp but if they're regular one, it's gonna be perfect.

For your speakers anything external over 200 will be the same, the quality of your speakers and the room make 90% of what you hear

Haha..only ones that are faggots are special flowers like yourself who think they are actually 'different' than everyone else.

Listen faggots, you are a normie too, just an insecure, beta faggot normie like pretty much every other faggot who uses the word 'normie' is.

You want to be special, you feel it would explain why you are such a faggot, but you are not special, you are just a faggot.
Now, why don't you start lobbying for a Linux/phone/faggot only board that will cater to the narrow definition you decided instead to put on /g/. Believe it or not, technology encompasses more than 3 fucking topics you faggot.
