Anyone use a Planck or similarly small board? I'm thinking of getting one for its portability aspects and would like to know if it's actually feasible. I do primarily development work so having to hide common keys behind layers seems potentially troublesome.

I'm putting keycaps back on, and the keycap numberings for the bottom alpha row is R1 1 or R1 2. What is the difference? They look the same.

Sorry for the bad quality picture. The numbers are quite small

You're supposed to put them on in order from left->right.

Need to know what protocol it uses, DIN->PS2 with an active USB converter like the blue cube will work for AT boards. Other stuff like XT needs a soarer's converter or something custom.
>>
>>53815149
1. A lot of old keyboards draw too much power for that.
2. It has to be an active PS/2 to USB adapter.
3. #2 will be fine if the keyboard is AT, but might not if it's XT.
Surefire solution is to buy/make a soarer's converter.

>>53810626

You don't have to if you don't want to. Clears are some of the easiest to not bottom out on because they are actually really heavy at the bottom compared to the rest of the regular cherry line.

>>
>>53819081
I could but by that point it will be the 160 + 20 tax and I am really paying the ass for this damned board I purchased mostly for ergonomics. The realforce would have been something like 200 and that makes getting proper caps more expensive. Also selling the extra spacebars that shit came with.

I went and tried some shitty razer at the video game convention and am ashamed to say I actually liked how it was, just the very light amount of force for my feeble fingers I guess. Probably browns. Topre is very nice still but I can't justify the price.
>>
Noob to mech boards. I bought pic related when it hit $45. This is the gen 1 version too. Old enough that it uses Mini-USB and not micro. Still using it to this day with zero problems. Been contemplating new caps though and I don't know where to even begin looking for caps that would fit this board as I do know there are diferent sizes/shapes.

>Inb4 gaymer keyboard

I bought it when I was like 17 and was saving my pennies from my ahit minimum wage job. $45 for a mech board from a name brand company was a god send and I'm loathe to toss fully functional tech.
>>
>>53819125
But.. why would you get a Novatouch if you don't intend to use custom keycaps on it? That's kind of the point, and I thought it was relatively well known that the stock Novatouch keycaps were a bit shitty.

Sorry, I don't usually post here despite owning a mechanical keyboard, buuuutttt...

I made a slight mistake and bought the Tex Beetle, which is a great keyboard in its own right, but seems to have non-standard sized keycaps on some of the keys. Am I fucked or are there options I'm unaware of?
>>
>>53819064
Did you get your viper prebuilt did you get a kit?
>>53819065
It feels better i guess, I also have a Mx master for occasionally gaming tho
>>
>>53819465
Yeah you're gonna have a hard time replacing keys for your bottom row.
It is possible to get 1u (1 unite wide) fn-keys etc. for bottom row, so in that regard you just need to look a bit and/or buy single keycaps. But I don't think it's going to be as easy to find a new spacebar in that length.

Also, if you go with blank keycaps you'll have a much better chance. Something you can do is buy a set of blank keycaps that come with a numpad - since the numpad two bottom rows has exactly 5 1u keys in the same profile (since the bottom two rows and top two rows use the same profile in all profiles I know of), and you have exactly 5 non-standard modifier keys on your bottom row.
>>
>>53819624
Wait, sorry, the numpad only has 4 standard 1u keys in the bottom rows.
>>
>>53819624
Thanks. How can I generally tell the dimensions of my key caps? Is it just a guessing game?
>>
>>53819594
>Did you get your viper prebuilt
No, I bought the kit in the first groupbuy on GeekHack.
>>
>>53819743
There's only so many different sizes. The rest of your keyboard seems pretty standard (except I just noticed your right shift is also only 1u, rip), so it's mostly just your bottom row.
You should be able to tell the sizes just by comparing to charts online or something. My guess would be that your left ctrl and left alt are 1.25u (which is standard for those, thankfully) while the rest of bottom row is definitely 1u. As to your spacebar, it looks like it's 4.25u, whereas standard spacebars are 6u I believe. But knowing that, you can probably just google 4.25u spacebar keycap and probably find something.
>>
>>53819894
just checked, standard spacebars are 6.25u

Yes, though there's a certain risk that you'll be replacing them just because you get into mechs as a hobby and decide that your perfectly fine mechanical keyboard is just not good enough and that you need some fancy ass korean custom or something of the sort.

I got it for about $130 shipped from NCIX on a deal. Got the browns. I don't use the LEDs at all. Turned it on for the potato picture.

It's not bad. The included cable and keycap puller are kind of a joke, though. I like it better than my Unicomp Customizer that lasted only a year or so before the control board went out of it.

Sad that your Rapid-I is failing so you might not trust CM again I guess, but they are just releasing the follow up version for the Rapid-I, but RGB with SMD LEDS instead, called Masterkeys S (doesn't have clears, but browns), it's coming into stock in Scandinavia within 2 weeks (maxfps.se 10/4 for example)

Less hand movement, less space taken on your desk for keys that you don't use.
And pok3rs are more expensive because of the aluminum case and the stock pbt caps.

60% keyboards are more expensive in general since there's a smaller market for them than there is for full size/tkl keyboards, since those are the main choice for gaymurs, who make up a large part of the mechanical keyboard userbase.
>>
>>53830049
Are you the guy who wants ISO? Because I don't think I've seen ISO with backlighting (someone might have to correct me here), only ANSI.

There is also the fact that Pok3r RGB is supposed to be release soon I think. So maybe it's worth to wait for that to arrive.

Personally I find backlit useful because I find myself sitting in the dark so fucking often
>>
>>53830565
>>53830578
o-ok ill keep working on it you guys
>>
>>53830558

>>
>>53830610
>Because I don't think I've seen ISO with backlighting
I can confirm this. Vortex doesn't seem to have molds for doubleshot iso (though they do seem to have molds for iso caps which they then laser print), hence the backlit version that comes with doubleshot abs caps is only available in ANSI.
>>
>>53830610
