Is the m8s any good? I'm running on a few firesticks with kodi side-loaded right now.
How can I configure kodi so that it buffers a large portion of a movie, instead of pausing every 10 minutes. All the sites that host HD movies have terrible speeds, so I would like to be able to let it sit and buffer for an hour then start watching it.
PseudoTVLive is pretty much the greatest plugin ever. I get to create my own cable channels and surf through them.

And maybe if you want to you can increase readbufferfactor.
For best results don't use some pile of shit TV stick. Use a proper HTPC.
If your friends are using bargain bin crap like TV sticks or RPi, then yes they will have trouble. If they are using an old desktop or a newer barebones mini-PC as their media center, they won't have issues.

OpenELEC is a thin linux install that boots directly to Kodi. It's like a Kodi set top box. It makes a perfect HTPC.
WeTek sponsors OpenELEC so they shill them. They are surely as good as any other shitty ARM device, which is to say shit and you shouldn't buy it.
Trust me, you want an x86_64 barebones PC that takes a standard laptop hard drive. This will give you the perfect HTPC experience.

Not all ARM Boxes are slow. The market is just dominated by cheap chinkboxes.
ARM devices make a bad user experience but the plus side is that you will probably not realize that your frustration is due to the ARM device itself. You will blame the torrent you are streaming from, or the HTTP host speeds, or your modem, or your ISP.
In reality you will be having problems because your ARM processor is maxing out when it tries to use the network, or the onboard flash storage is too slow, or the storage is too small to cache a whole file.
But unless you have both an x86_64 HTPC and an ARM HTPC you won't know the problem is your android shitbox. You will think it's some other factor. So you will be ignorant and somewhat pleased with your wasted money. Always pointing the finger somewhere else.

I have an Nvidia shill TV and it's fast af. It costs 4x as much as the average shitbox but you get what you pay for.
Also most of the super cheap barebones PCs have super slow processors anyway. Sure you're gonna be running OpenELEC rather than Windows, but they're still not going to play 1080p Hi10p or 4k H.265, which the Nvidia Shield TV can. If you're going HTPC, you want an i3, not some no-name AMD processor.

PlexKodiConnect now makes the "it integrates with kodi better" argument mute. It gives you transcoding ability, has clients on pretty much everything and offers a more standardized common library than running a mysql server.

The current Kodi dev team are such an awful, elitist group of assholes. It's no wonder they've been dropping talented devs for years.

How is Emby better with Metadata? It seems as if Plex has more "agents" than Emby has scrapers. Unless I'm mistaken, you can also just use kodi formatted .nfos as well.
I was about to try migrating from MySQL to Plex in a few days so I'm genuinely interested in an argument for Emby.
