>Who needs extensions like AdBlock Plus? In a session for Web developers today, Microsoft revealed that the next version of Microsoft Edge will include its own ad blocker.
It'll not Block Windows adds for sure
>>53788379
And don't forget any third party who gives microsoft money.
In fact MS probably sees this as a way to get a cut of ad revenue without actually hosting any ads.
>>53788362
look at this looser, he's using windows
So what? Internet explorer had one for ages.

Microsoft hasn't disappointed so far. All the current extensions are excellent and Adblock is confirmed for coming. You can get in on the beta by PMing the Adblock guys on twitter.
>>53788814
>O Microsoft is part of NSA's mass surveillance program "PRISM":
Everyone is, including Debian and Red Hat

>NSA botnet
How would that even work
>>53789120
It wouldn't.
>>53789148
So what's all this FUD about then, from "reputable" anti-botnetists like Assange or Snowden
>>53789120
>linux kernel
>audited
lel
>>53788362
Yeah but will it block things like Youtube and Spotify ads?
>>53789120
>How would that even work
Why do you think pays the bills for "Open Source"?
>>53789120
In the article about assange, they say that several of things like ssl and the ssh random number generator were botched in ways that would incompetant if done accidentaly, and that bug exploits.
About the audibility of the code
Do you audit it, if not, who does?
The developers and maybe one or two people wno actually knows wahts going on in the software, so I think it's almost as easy to slip something in as a proprietary piece of soft ware
>>53789183
>unrelated-picture.png
>>53789183
You can use Debian userland with a different kernel anon
>>53789192
Donations and enterprises which use Red Fag for servers (a fuckton)
Also Open Source was always mostly a hobby/portfolio building scheme/charity kind of thing. Hence why it's still so sloppy, especially from the UI standpoint
>>53789221
What's your point?
>>53789230
Maybe for end user programs and some gnu stuff, but a lot of drivers and other internals are funded by large companies that need them. It's nowhere near just a hobby project
>>53789230
>Donations and enterprises which use Red Fag for servers
US government and military is Red Hat's MAIN client. They provide 90% of their income.
>>53789236
that you didn't make one
microsoft is probably going to double it's net worth blackmailing companies into paying em to not get blocked top kek

>P A T E N T S

>>53788417
>we're both fucking retards who have never heard of tracking protection for IE
This isn't even the first time MS has included an Adblocker in their browser. They also have no Ad network anymore, they sold their Ad division to AOL who got bought by Verizon.
>>53789405
That doesn't mean it's botnet tho
>>53788362
I hope they fuck up their adblock because sites are going to really crack down on adblockers.
>>53789405
And TOR was created thanks to funding from the US Navy and DARPA and still receives tons of funding today.
Hell, even Signal which is almost universally lauded for its encryption schemes also receives most of its development finding in donations from the U.S government.
This might shock you to hear, but the United States government is not a monolithic creature with a single universal intent spread across all of its many arms.
>>53789738
Stay in denial faggot. The world needs more idiots like you.
>>53789786

stop that

Oh no, the american man will traverse half the world to steal my lolis :O Via publicly available code that I can choose not to run, no less.
>>53789817
Right. It's not all capitalized. Oh well, guess you'll have to get over it.
>>53788362
Opera did this, they whitelisted google, yandex, facebook and some other ads. And there's no way to configure it.
This is going the same way.

So you can build the cleverly-backdoored-through-a buffer-overflow source yourself?
Brilliant
>>53789975
lel, found the guy who preferes broken websites instead of superior request blocking
I bet you idiot also use your hosts file as ad blocker, kek.
Wake up.
Welcome to 2009, Microsoft
Don't they integrate ads everywhere now? They even charge a subscription fee for ducking solitaire
Update: In a Twitter post by Microsoft's Jacob Rossi, he stated, "We are not building a native ad blocker within MS Edge, but we will support third party ad blockers like AdBlock and AdBlock Plus".
>>53788978
Even though you have zero evidence or proof of that (other than intuition) you have to realise that Microsoft were (is) the worst of all the companies that bent over for the NSA. They even supported the FBI in the apple case to make it even more evident.
>>53788379
Which doesn't really matter, you only visit their shit every once in a while for documentation.
