My laptop has a 802.11 AC wireless adapter (Killer wireless ac 1525)
and the router webpage only ever shows that my pc is connected to the 2.4ghz connection, even when i am connected to the 5ghz one
so i just connected to the 2.4ghz connection and my torrenting speed goes from like 0.5 bm/s to 2.0 mb/s
wtf is going on bro explain this fucking magic

update drivers

>>53760878
ok ill do that thank you but is there a reason why the 2.4ghz connection is faster than the 5ghz connection
>>53760898
and the 2.4ghz connection seems to usually have full bars as opposed to the 5ghz connection which usually has 1-3 bars

This is tech not pornography.

no other board is more receptive to porn and trannies

you may need to check your router settings.
also check wifi channel frequencies trying to make sure they aren't overlapping with other routers
>>53760821
Could be a bug in the firmware not showing which AP your on.
Either way ac is a gimmick, It's higher freq makes it have even less range than 2.4ghz, It's only useful if you are using it to connect your consoles and streaming gear wirelessly but only if the AP is reasonbly close otherwise the signal degredation will slow it down pretty quick.
It's basically a meme.

Ok so I should just stay on the 2.4 bc my room is pretty far from the router
Thanks for the promotion OP
HOREY SHET WHY IS TECHNOLOGY SO UNREADABLE TO NORMAL PEOPLEEEE
>>53761084
Check the signal strength of both and then run a simple ping test to see which one is faster.ping -c 20 192.168.1.1
Or whatever your router ip is..

I doubt either of them would be more than 1ms. Most likely they would be both <1ms.
Ping isn't the way to test this. Test it with a 1GB file transfer.

Gb2/b/

>muh deek
supposedly it "was" a day of nofap
>>53761850
I find ur lack of will disturbing
So, a few things:
2.4Ghz has better penetration than 5Ghz. That's why its used in so many other applications beyond 802.11.
Your local area's RF may be highly congested in the 5 Ghz range. Try different channels, or an RF survey if your router supports it.
>>53762338
So does torrenting the 2.4 connection up the ass still slow down other connections in the same router
>>53760925
Who cares?
>>53760821
this is why wifi is bullshit, it never works the way it's supposed to
My router is supposed to auto-sense the least congested channel and it always picks the most congested one.
