>>53727261
Backlight is still in progress. Left side isn't working. Keycaps are annoying, still missing a labeled 1.5u shift.
That large gap isn't really there. The panels aren't sceewed in and have shifted a bit so it looks like a gap.
I like thumb cluster, tgough the far keys can be awkward to hit at times. I like having them there though.
Hand size is little girly 5'7" manlet hands. No clue on glove size, haven't bought any in years.
>>53727286
I like DSA so much I put it on my other boards too. Takes a bit to get used to, but I honestly had more trouble with the ortholinear layout than the keycaps.

How often do you shove that chapstick up your ass, or have you upgraded to something bigger and better? Personally those are just way too small these days.
Also I've got the same shirt, so nice taste.
Reminder to avoid angling your wrists in any direction when typing. Wrist rests are suicide if you rest on them while your fingers are moving.
Angle your arms instead and try to sit straight. Resting on your forearms or elbows is safer than using a wrist rest.
Also, think about the height of your desk, the width of your keyboard and how your chair is adjusted to your body shape.
Stay safe and avoid wrist pain.

>>53729312
>How exactly is the third pic fucking up my wrists?
Your fingers are actually controlled by muscles in your palm and forearm. Tendons from the forearm muscles as well as important nerves go through your wrist using the carpal tunnel.
Bending your wrist tightens up the carpal tunnel and causes strain, especially if done for long sessions and while those finger controlling tendons are active.
>but my wrists haven't hurt yet

That being said, if you eat a lot of food and shit and are just a sloppy human being in general you'll find that shit getting dirty quick. I don't really notice my keyboard getting dirty until it's flat out disgusting, but once you notice you notice everything (though that happens with all keyboards regardless of color).
>>53730121

Ah, nice to hear from you.
There currently is a site that sells 66% kits, alps compatible. Dunno its name (I'm on my phone), but I guess you can find it if you search a little.
Godspeed Anon!
>>53732964
>66% kits, alps compatible
You mean pbt caps? I'd appreciate the site as long as it's available in europe.
I could totally use matias but i realised what really pushed me off from typing on my previous and current notebook is the slippery of ABS keys. I always thought my fingers are sweating untill i lurked more.
I couldn't use white alps that I harvested as they are clacky and pingy af. They are good as first DIY thou, as I can make simple 10~ button controller for my brothers flight simulators and train.
Cheers.
>>53732964
Clueboard?
>>53733116
No I mean a 66% keyboard kit.
Abs keycaps aren't slippery by default, most have a nice texture. Look at these tai hao ones for example, I guess you can see the texture. Most backlight keycaps don't have any texture because it's simply clear abs with some paint on top, which kills the texture. Dunno why most Laptop keyboards are so slippery though.
Problem with abs is that it looses its texture with time, but that takes at least a year of HEAVY use. Like 130 wpm for 8h every day. Luckily Tai Hao is dirt cheap though.

Ah entire kit to put a DIY from parts, now i get it. Thanks but that's not my game.
For me it's like people buying lego mindstorms claiming they 'build' robots.
No offense neither for them nor people who buy these kits. But all i need are switches and caps as obviously they are too hard or even impossible to be made with the same quality.
I won't even use a teensy as a regular 2$ atmega is all i need.
Keycaps on my notebook also have some kind of texture on them. My capslock is comfy to touch but more used keys are simply disgusting. That's why I'm using my old membrane yellow samsung now and wll use a mechanical in the close future.
Ofc there is a difference between one abs caps and another, my exerience is equal to zero in that matter so I can only repeat other people opinions so far.
>>53733420
That sounds pretty cool, I hope stuff works out for you. What do you plan to use for a case?
>>53733488
Aluminum. Either welded plate or 'carved' block. Depend what's cheaper/looks nicer. My brother is a construction engineer so he has experience with materials, methods and costs - I'm dependant on his experience.
As for a starter i thought also about pic related. Looks pretty clean and solid imho, but I believe that is mostly thanks to sterile pcb, that's from infinity kit isn't it?
My shit won't be so fancy, so I might hide electronics inside a case.
>>53733785
I've been looking to make something like that, looks insanely nice.
>>53733785
You may want to have a look at GONs skinny 60. Similar concept.
I guess if you have a good concept you could also start a GB to lower the cost for yourself
>>53733870
400x200x0,3 aluminum sheet costs around 4$ here. Im sure most places selling those can also cut and bend them as you wish for less than 15-20$ (material included).
I'm not sure if 3mm is stable enough but even if not, prices of thicker ones are not much higher.
>>53733225
>>53733944
>85$
Shit I could literally do it for half of the price using just neighbour craftsmen.
>>53734005
I forgot about switch holes, that would rise the price a little, I thought only about the case here.
>>53725152
that full retard bokeh
>>53728701
how much do you squat?
>>53734037
I just meant the construction, as an inspiration, you know.
>>53734021
So the easiest answer is teh Cooler Master. Easily accesible, one of the cheapest mechanicals with good quality, nothing fancy about them (gaymeer stuff etc), both 80% and 100% factor.
Reds would be good for you, but scissor switches still have some membrane underneath right? So they have some kind of tacticity, if you don't mind the clackiness (but as a lot of people stated, after some time you WILL) consider blues.
>>53734096
Sure mate thanks.
In fact I need inspiration a lot since most of DIY projects go for acrylic, layer formed cases which doesn't look good for me. Also i want to avoid having screws on the top surface at all cost.

>>53737790
One is linear and one is tactile. Sure is a rubber dome.

>>53737950
>>53738681
Is getting the aluminium body really worth it lads? Why don't you just go for the poker 2
>>53723301
I picked up this magicforce for 55 bucks, green switches, my first mechanical.
>>53739526
>it doesn't feel any different
Any different from what?
>>53736309
Did you have that p38 refinished ?
>>53739963
Ur mams beaver
>>53740231
no
it's an unissued p1
>Budget
Around $100
>Location
US
>Preferred switch type
Never used a mechanical, so I'm not sure. Brown sounds like the best for me.
>Layout
ANSI. Mac layout preferred but a keyboard with modifier keys that are all the same size would be fine. I'd like some sort of function keys for controlling music and volume.
>Form factor
80% perferred, 100% would be fine.
>Backlight
Not necessary.
>>53740273
Topre Realforce
>>53740290
>$250
>windows and menu key are smaller than ctrl and alt
Am I looking at the wrong keyboard or is this a meme?
anyone know a good tenkeyless mech keyboard that looks like a model M but has the windows keys? I need the windows keys for my window manager.
I'm seriously considering just getting a WASD keyboard with custom caps and spray-painting the base at this point
>Budget
130£ or more if there is a GOOD reason
>Location (continent at least)
UK
>Preferred switch type
Stiff, non-linear/tactile
>Layout
any qwerty
>Form factor
I dont like section between letters and numpad but full size or left hand will do
>Backlight
yes, white most welcome
>Previous/current keyboards
qpad mk80 - cherry mx black: very good but linear switches
ducky one - cherry mx red: a way to light to actuate, linear
>>53724766
>>53723301
Is there a non-expensive method to increase the actuation force of Cherry MX keys?
I sold my board with blues and got one with browns. I regret it. Browns are too sensitive, I keep mistyping…
>>53740318
Once you suck dick, you crave nothing but prick.
>>53740474
stop complaining and just get used to it, as bad as safe spaces
>>53736824
>I had the one with the ridiculous shaped body and the removable keypad
Yeah, that's because it was the X6. There's a reason the X4 is selling for hundreds of dollars. It was easily and only one of the best membrane keyboards ever made. The K70 isn't utterly terrible, but I'd recommend putting some rings on it.
>>53727140
lay the foundation pupper
>>53739942
Why go for the poker 2? The pok3r just seemed nice when I started getting into mechs. But yes, I really dig the alu case but only had some Microsoft keyboard before and therefore can't compare it to another mechanical keyboard.
>>53738817
thanks buddy. yeah the pics he sent me didn't do it enough justice.
my white blank hhkb came in aaaa, no buyers remorse yet
>>53741682
yet
When will you get with the times, /g/?
>>53728701
Good job on the squats, man. Keep it up.
Contemplating getting a babby's first mechanical, and I want to be able to rice it because I'm a shit. How does Logitech's g910 hold up?
I already use the config app they have for my mouse, so I'm ideally looking to stick with Logitech for all that bullshit.
>>53739559
I have only used MX Blue, Red, Brown and Topre 55g for long periods of time. I have also tried MX Black and Topre 45g for short periods.
Topre 55g is my main board now; if I were to buy another I would consider going Topre 45g, as I am a pretty light typist.
>>53742085
so why in the world do you prefer the topre here?
>finally got my blank pbt keycaps in
Holy fuck this feels so much nicer to type on than the stock pok3r abs
>>53740474
get clears

>>53723301
Where does one get one of these god tier keyboards?
>>53742481

>>53739958
was that memeforce from the drop?
>>53743515
Commenting for that sweet, sexy, Daewoo pistol
>>53739942
It is certainly worth it. Much better quality for basically the same price.
Are Cherry MX browns any good? Looking at the Logitech g710. Pic unrelated
Anyone else waiting on the Magicforce from memedrop?
>>53744794
aye. I wanted to try gaterons
>>53744802
Same. I heard gateron reds are even smoother than cherry reds. I'm all about that.
herro
>>53744794
Still waiting...
So this morning I finished addinh LED tape to my ergodox.
I think I might add some more later, But I like it so far.
>>53744771
No, it's unnecessary big and overpriced.
Also, back lighting is shit.
Read the pastebins
>>53744771
No IMO, they feel like reds with sand stuck in them. Get reds or blacks if you want linear, clears for tactile with no click.
I got a CM Stealth with Reds today, bought it used for $40 shipped to try out some linears. Damn this is a weird feeling.
>>53745092
they're great for silent typing and gaming, tho. 0 fatigue
>>53745066
So I red the pastes, but now I'm debating between clears and reds. Clears are harder to find but are perfect, but I'm not sure if reds will give enough feedback on keypresses. Any personal experience with MX reds?
>>53728701
D'aaaaaw, he's flexing so hard to convince nerds he lifts.
>>53745363
The only feedback in mx Reds are the spring and friction. The stem is just straight and doesn't make any feedback.
>>53745419
Thank you from saving me from buying a fucking MX brown. I have an elitist friend who goes fucking HAM on his MX blues and it makes anyone in discord chat hate the sound. I don't wanna be that guy, and thanks to you I'll get the keyboard that suits me. Thanks!
>>53745497
Blues are nice but yeah very noisy, I'd go for the clears if you still want some tactile feel without the noise. They honestly aren't that hard to find on Amazon etc.
>>53745092
>>53745296
Oh geeze I've gone and compared it with some browns. It's true people, Cherry Browns really are just Reds with sand in them.
>>53745497
Push-to-talk is a thing, btw
>>53745497
He should be using push to talk instead of being a huge faggot. That is what I do
Have you ever unplugged your keyboard after cumming in order to jump into bed with your keyboard so you can snuggle with it while having your afterglow?
>>53747286
It's a good thing Reds feel like a cloud of boobs because it's the closest I'll probably ever get.
>>53736141
Glad to hear that.
>>53747286
No because I've got a shitty daki that I got for free :^
Looking for a first mech keyboard
>Budget: ~$200 AUD
>Location (continent at least): NSW, Australia
>Preferred switch type: MX Blacks or Topre
>Layout: ANSI
>Form factor: Fullsize or TKL
>Backlight: None or plain white LEDs
>Previous/current keyboards: Laptop keyboards and cheap rubber domes
>>53747286
But then it's underlighting LEDs go out.
I bought a 2 meter usb cable so I can just bring the whole thing into bed with me.
